Having shelved the release of the biography box it seems that Amaranthe have decided to ride the creative wave instead, leaving them less than two years between studio albums. The question is not so much whether this album sounds distinctively Amaranthe or not; it unmistakeably does. The real question is whether the band can hold their promise of stepping away from the path of non-evolution by being both bold and fresh.

I hope they're not serious with that frontal assault on grammar as a title... But I do look forward to this.

Sincerely hoping that Danger Zone is a Kenny Loggins cover. That will be hilariously awesome.

If it is a cover I don't see the point in it. You can't improve upon the perfection that is KL's Danger Zone.

Covers aren't meant to improve upon, but to pay homage to while lending your band's own unique touch to it.

I know what the purpose of a cover is, I was just pointing out that there's no way anyone would ever top the original - let alone a band like Amaranthe. It's just too good.

Fair enough. I like the band myself so I'm not inherently opposed to them covering such a song.

Leaked.
Unfortunetely, not as catchy as the previous ones ;// Good stuff, butas someone stated before, it lack the intensity of the last album. For example, "Massive Addictive" is actually a great song, even excluding the "Guilty pleassure" factor, but it is somehow midtempo, and it's unusual to hear this in Amaranthe. And yes, the new grunt vocals are weaker.

As I predicted, they will probably be back to the old sound with the next album.

I think it's pretty catchy. Dynamite, Drop Dead Cynical, Massive Addictive and Digital World are probably the most catchy on first listen.

it lack the intensity of the last album

I have to agree with you on that :/ Still a decent album, but definitely missing the intensity. It seems like there are a lot more "softer" songs present.

Actually those four songs are all they got here Massive Addictive is probably their best ever for me. But I have lots of trouble with other songs. At places it sounds messy and unfinished, especially with middle instrumental parts. It's a good thing that they are searchin for new sound, lets hope it will be better next time. But yes, it's not so bad as I may have put it

Ok, now after few days with it, it actually stuck in me. It's probably the same as with the rest of pop scene - the more you listen, the more you like. It's still the worst of Amaranthe, but not as bad as I thought after first listenings.

Not a terrible album but it just doesn't have the 'spark' that the debut or The Nexus had. Nothing interesting at all, just some fun listening when you really need it.

After a few spins I'm ending up enjoying this album quite a bit.
I agree that it has less spark and intensity but yet it sounds a bit more, dare I say, "mature" than the previous albums.
"Skyline" and "An Ordinary Abnormality" are killer songs IMO.

On a side note I'm almost sad that "Danger Zone" is not a Kenny Loggins cover.

Is it at least an Archer reference?

I wish, that would have been brilliant! At least Archer made a music video.

We can formally break down Amaranthe and find that it's relatively simple stuff but god damn it are they good at what they do. You get exactly what you want from them. It's not creative or really original or anything but a rock solid industrio-pop album. I dig it.

The first 5-6 songs are good but after that it gets boring and predictable. I also think Elize's vocals are not what they used to be.

If you'd told me when they released drop dead cynical I was listening to one of the best tracks on the album I wouldve been pretty bummed. As it is, I've come to like that track against all odds, but I still think the records a bit subpar. in actual fact I've come to appreciate the previous record more - that one was far more consistent and a lot more enjoyable. This has some nice songs but I found myself actually getting a bit annoyed or even bored at times. It's okay but definitely a step down

Calling it industrial metal is a shame.

And what would you call it then? There's obviously another element than just power metal. The closest thing is industrial. Troy originally tagged them as Trancecore instead of Industrial but they're not -core.

Imo if you strip out all the Power metal elements you're left with a sound and style not very far off from the likes of Fear Factory, Illidiance and Crossbreed. Which is why I chose to change the tag from Trancecore to Industrial.

^ There's trance metal you know... Bands like Blood Stain Child... I think it fits.

If you really wanna avoid the trance you should probably stick with 'electronic' instead of 'industrial' though...

THIS!!!

Industrial is harder version of electronics. And you, psyko, should perfectly know it. And it should be electronic than industrial metal.
