Yeah best of Hammerfall by me too... One of the small amount of power metal albums that i can listen... Yeah im not of the kind and yeah it needs higher rating..

This one is the most consistent Hammerfall so far, a bit more mature than Legacy of Kings but with the same quality. Everything here is quite great, they have great musical ideas all the way. Way of the Warrior, Destined for Glory, Champion, have all a little something that makes them special and really memorable. To note, the riffs have become really interesting, but the drums and bass keep being really boring and pedestrian but do their job. Funny that in the bonus track "Head over Heels" from Accept, the bass is really audible and distinct, so its all a matter of songwriting. The only negative of this I would say its Always Will be. I usually like ballads, but that one is wretched.

Wow, many seem to regard this as their best. I always thought the songwriting felt tired, it lacks energy and spark. Templars Of Steel and The Way of the Warrior are great anthems and could be their two best songs, the rest is just okey. A good listen now and then.

For me a step back after the first 2 records, still i listened to it a lot back when it was released, and then crimson thunder i find better... and probably that was the time when they vanished from my radar... but still feels good to revisit, even if i dont take the time to listen to the newer stuff.

The original release had pretty meh production in comparison to first two albums. It was a shame. Fortunately, Sweden Power Metal kings decided to have mercy on us and release an amazing re-mastered version in 2021, which I can't recommend enough! So many great battle songs can be found here, such as "Keep The Flame Burning", "The Way Of The Warrior", "Living In Victory" and the title track. Even the ballad "Always Will Be" is actually pretty good this time, with a nice bridge. So, if you like Power Metal and haven't heard this one - go find yourself a re-mastered version!
