Nicholas Howard Barker is an extreme metal drummer (from Hillsborough, Sheffield; now lives in Northwich, England). After several years of collaboration with British metal band Cradle Of Filth, he joined Norwegian symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir. After being removed from the lineup, Barker went on to play with Brujeria, Old Man's Child and Lock Up.
As announced on January 15, 2008, Barker is also officially the new drummer for long-standing death metal band Atrocity, and Leaves' Eyes, which consists of the Atrocity lineup in addition to Norway's Liv Kristine. Barker also plays drums on the latest album by UK death metallers Benediction, 'Killing Music'.
Barker's technique incorporates fast double-bass drumming, extremely accurate blastbeats, odd-time-signatured multi-tom fills and precise, dynamic accuracy.
His influences include Neil Peart (Rush), Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel, Death, Strapping Young Lad), Ringo Starr (The Beatles), Clive Burr and Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), and Pete Sandoval (Morbid Angel).
