Formed in 1986, Beyond Belief featured two ex-Dead Head members guitarist Robbie Woning and bassist Ronnie Van Der Way alongside frontman A.J. Van Drenth and drummer Jacko Westendorp. Another early bassist would be Artino Selles. Having released the Remind The Skull demo in 1990, recorded at Heaven's Shores Studios in Kampen, the contributed two exclusive tracks to a 1992 DSFA Records compilation then a further demo, Stranded, cut at Franky's Recording Studios, followed in 1992. Beyond Belief toured their native Holland with Creepmine, Ancient Rites and Dead Head.
Beyond Belief signed with Shark Records from Germany, recording the album Towards The Diabolical Experiment, at T&T Studios in Gelsenkirchen with producer Tim Buktu, for release in 1993. That June Artino Selles made his exit. Re-entering Franky's Recording Studios with producer Berthus Westerhuis in 1994, Beyond Belief laid down the second album Rave The Abyss. Live work marked the introduction of new bassist Wicliff Wolda. In side activity, Van Drenth initiated Black Metal project Throne with Asphyx drummer Bob Bagchus, releasing the demo The Ultimate Blasphemy.
1996 proved to be the year Beyond Belief came to a close. Robbie Woning departed and although EP recordings billed The Terror were recorded with new guitarist Ronald, the group folded. The following year Van Drenth and Wicliff joined forces with Pleurisy drummer Edwin to create Death Metal band C-Tank, this alliance producing The Hellfeast EP. Van Drenth then manifested Legion, crafting the EP Unhallowed Ground with collaborations from The Monolith Deathcult vocalist Robin Kok.
In 2003 Painiac Records issued the limited edition retrospective Dawn vinyl compilation, collecting together the Remind The Skull and Stranded demos. Van Drenth joined up with The Monolith Deathcult for live shows. Meantime, Robbie Woning scored credits with God Dethroned and worked as producer on two albums for Severe Torture.
Beyond Belief was reformed during 2004, quoting a membership of Drenth, The Monolith Deathcult, Legion, Toxocara and Eternal Conspiracy credited Martijn Moes on guitar, bassist Wicliff Wolda and drummer Arjen Hurkmans. The band re-inaugurated itself on the live scene on 19th September 2004 at the 'Doom Day III' festival at Rotterdam's Baroeg. Beyond Belief evolved further in 2005, now seeing Woning re-installed alongside The Monolith Deathcult and Eternal Conspiracy bassist Michiel Dekker and the Altar and The Monolith Deathcult veteran drummer Sjoerd Visch.
