The foundation for Burial Remains was laid in December 2016 when, inspired by the early Death Metal scene (Autopsy, Bolt Thrower, Benediction) and the HM-2 sound of the Swedish scene (Grave, Dismember), a band was formed under the moniker Miasma Of Guilt by Wim (Grim Fate, Boal) and Rai (Departed Souls).
Together with Philippus (Dimaeon, Boal) they immediately started writing songs and in April 2017 drummer Danny (Disintegrate, Dimaeon) was asked to join. Unfortunately the project didn't work out as planned and they parted ways amicably.
By the end of 2017, Wim, Philippus and Danny decided to continue with the music, respectfully changing the name to Burial Remains.
