Biography
Necare (pronounced neh-KA-reh) is a Latin verb meaning "to kill, murder, or destroy". Comprised of only two core members, and gathering session musicians as needed, Necare has been in existence since 1999.
Lyrically and musically, the project set out to explore the loss that death brings to the living, and the failure of humanity and religion to explain the inevitability of tragedy and despair. Necare recorded an unreleased demo in 1999, and a second self-released (now out of print) demo in 2000, which was generally well received by the few that heard it. Necare's sound can be best described as atavistic: they craft a raw, melodic soundscape eerily reminiscent of three early '90s UK doom/death bands (Anathema, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost) that were influential to so many - while adding to the mix a substantial dose of tranquil atmosphere. Curious listeners can be assured of Necare's dedication to creating emotionally suffocating doom/death metal - at times crushing and slow; often regal; never lacking bleakness or sorrow; equally hateful and serene; and ever mindful of the past. Necare is no longer together and officially broke up approximately eight years ago.
