Biography
The Icelandic Black Metal band Myrk was founded by "Myrkur" in 1997, he contacted some of his mates from other bands and showed them his ideas and they joined in, but they were to busy in their bands which resulted in constant line-up changes and "Myrkur" decided to postpone his project for a while due to the constant changes in the line-up. In early 2000 he teamed up with "Skog", Icortus and Storm in a band which was name Mictian and gigged with them just for a short time before a musical disagreement with one of the guitarists and the Mictian project was no more, "Myrkur" grabbed the opportunity offered to him and introduced them (Icortus, Skog and Storm) to his ideas, they all liked his ideas and they teamed up as Myrk.
In the fall of 2001 they started recording material for a demo, the demo had 5 songs, but shortly after the release of the demo "Myrkur" decided to fire the one who supposedly played the keyboards (I still haven't dug up his name), and the decision was made to never have keyboards in Myrk's music. In the year 2002 another demo was released it had 2 songs one was a new song, and in the winter a new member was introduced, the guitarist "Gaddur" now the wheels began to spin for the band, more concerts where booked than ever and they managed to build up a reputation, and at one point they were even compared with the masters of Icelandic Black Metal Afsprengi Satans. In early 2003 they finally caught the eye of a record company, the German company Ketzer Records. The company released both demos on a tape named "promo 2002", in the spring of 2003 plans for an album where made which was planed to be released sometime in the winter of 2003, but when the recordings were finished the band split up and "Icortus" was first to go, and later Skog, Storm and Abhzar (who was hired only for tours) followed "Icortus" example and left. In early 2004 "Gaddur" assisted "Myrkur" to at least finish the production of the album and release it.
Since the release of the album little as nothing has been heard from the band and "Myrkur" has probably called it quits, and to further strengthen the rumor I can honestly say that "Myrkur" has started a solo project which he has simply named "Myrkur".
