As Radtskaffen

Biography

2014
Ben "Polle" had written 5 songs with the intention of making a band, when by coincidence Bjørn had bought his first bass guitar. Being friends from primary school, we shared a common interest for heavy metal and decided to join forces and create our own music.
A couple of days went by looking for a drummer, until Ben met Christian Albrektsen at a local concert. A couple of beers and some heavy tunes later, we decided to invite Chris into the band.
As for the band's name, our first name was Radtskaffen - a combination of Ben's last name and the Danish word "retskaffen" (meaning "righteous"). It made sense at that time, since our lyrics were Danish and semi-political.
The first rehearsal went down inside of Ben's childhood room (poor parents). A tiny 10-ish m2 room in a small village in the middle of nowhere. Barely fitting in there, we managed to get through the first 5 songs, and subsequently agreed to search for another rehearsal space. So after moving our gear around Zealand for a year, we finally managed to set up a gig in our home town, Frederikssund.

2015
Our first gig ever was in our local town, and was set up by none other than ourselves. Facing crushing self-doubt, tons of alcohol and a really short set, we barely managed to pull through.
Everything went a little quiet after that, since we had a rough time getting gigs...

2016
As time went by, more songs were written and we decided to switch from Danish to English lyrics. This also resulted in a slight genre change, going from punk to a more heavy-ish metal.
We still managed to get a gig at "Punx Undead", a monthly punk show located in the heart of Copenhagen.
Besides playing a few gigs in 2016, we tried to record our first demo named 'Worldwide Anarchy'.
We played a gig at Lygten in Copenhagen, where we met the sound engineer Henning Nymand (who also happens to be the founder of and guitar player for the Danish cult band Red Warszawa). The concert was recorded and later released as 'Live At Lygten'.
Fun fact: This was also the night we got to play with our friends from Kurgan (Danish Melodic Death) for the first time.

2017
We wanted to find another guitar player, so we could evolve as a band. Yusof Al-Farra was a friend of Ben's and was looking for a band, so we gave him the spot.
This was also the year we had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some of the local big boys. During a weekend we spent time with Mental Coma and Livløs playing at Rust in Copenhagen one night and Infected Festival the other. This was Yusof's first and last appearance on stage.
Yusof decided to leave due to lack of time and different interests.

2018
This was the year everything changed.
Ben and Bjørn felt the need to play faster, more aggressive and intense music than they had ever done before. This resulted in a side project called "Knark Kalas", an experimental punk band featuring Emil from Shocktilstand (DK/NO hardcore punk) and Max Petrén, an old friend of Ben's.
Being more satisfied with the product of Knark Kalas, Ben got burned out from Radtskaffen and decided to put the project on hold for a while.
After a while, a discussion was brought up between Ben and Chris about the future of the band. Ben wanted a more extreme direction, while Chris was satisfied with the current product. This led to Chris leaving the band due to musical differences.
While looking for a new drummer, we asked Max from Knark Kalas to fill in. Over time Max decided to become a full member and we slowly started to record our debut material 'Ghoul'.
Over the months we spent a lot of time recording and writing material, and on August 7, 2018, 'Ghoul' was finally released.
Max also realised the need of another guitar player and started to join in on the hunt. One day, Max met a guy at a bar named Aria Douzandeh-Mobbarez.
Aria turned out to be a very skilled guitar player and was asked by Max to come over for a jam session with Ben and Bjørn. Aria turned out to be a quick learner and came up with a lot of possibilities and ideas.
This was when we decided to change our name. New lineup, new music and even a new practice space. Going for a more international appeal, we changed our name from Radtskaffen to Demolizer (the act of demolishing shit, basically).
Ben managed to get a gig at a local venue, just to test out the new material, and told Aria that if he could learn the 5-6 songs before the gig, he would get the job. And so he did.
One random day, a guy contacted the band about tour in Russia (to take place in April 2019). Us being us, we were intrigued and said yes. The booking firm wanted to get some live video of the band for promotional purposes. This was quite a challenge, since gigs still weren't hanging on trees and we had a few feuds with some local bands and venues.
Ben decided to try his luck and contacted Henning Nymand (Red Warszawa) and asked if by any chance Demolizer could warm up for them. A deal was made and Demolizer got to tour with RW in Denmark.

2019
Touring Denmark with Red Warszawa became an everyday thing. Also adding in some of our own danish gigs we were on fire.
Going to Russia for an additional 10 gigs let to that we managed to play a total of 54 gigs this year.

This was also the year we went to W.O.A Metal Battle and got a place at the danish finals were we managed to win the crowd but sadly not the judges.
After the finals doors started to open up and we signed a deal with Toxic Booking Agency.

2020
Year is starting out great. our first couple of gigs went great. We even got to share stage with the mighty Nervosa (BR) and thrash metal legends Artillery (DK).

Incredibly honored to find ourselves in this company we shortly after went into the studio to record our upcoming record 'Thrashmageddon'.

Covid-19 hit us hard in the face since this gigging lifestyle has become close to everyday life.
We were approached by Copenhell Family to do a "rehearsal concert livestream" which spiraled into a 3 hour event featuring the CpHell family + Esben (ex-Hatesphere) at Richter in Gladsaxe with a couple of hundred views while it was going on...

...To be continued.
