Phrenetix - Biography

Biography

It was Summer, 2010, Vilnius, Lithuania, when a young Juozo Tallat-Kelp?os Music Conservatory student Lina responded to a vocalist/guitarist wanted position in a Vilnius-based Thrash Metal band State of Ruin. With excitment to finally express the newly found love for old-school thrash metal, young Gedas, Lukas, Jonas, and Lina started playing club shows and touring Lithuania with a raw, energetic, but sincere attitude, influenced by Testament, Megadeth, Anthrax and uniquelly melodic guitar works of Marty Friedman.

Not long after, tragedy struck in Summer 2011, when bassist Lukas and main songwriter Gedas were killed in a car accident while working and travelling in UK.

After a period of doubt and depression, in Summer 2012, the band renamed itself to Phrenetix along with Lina taking the main songwriter role. With new members Tomas and Daumantas, and newly found influences of NWOBHM and acts like Tool, Primus and Mastodon, Phrenetix was fresh and active. With disapproval for the new wave of Thrash Metal bands of extreme and generic nature, the band set out for their goal to bring back musicality to the unappreciated, but a potentially truly universal style.

TIMELINE
In 2013, Phrenetix recorded their first Demo tracks State of Ruin in memory and respect of the band's past. It was the first attempt to reach audiences outside of Lithuania. It was also the year Phrenetix was noticed by a broader audience, playing their first major commercial rock festival Roko Naktys.

In 2014, Tomas was replaced by guitarist Paulius and the line-up was set for three years. After playing in their first major metal festival Kilkim Zaibu, the band was offered to sign a deal with a French label Inferno Records. Phrenetix started recording their first debut album.

In 2015, after releasing their first debut album Fear, the band finally flourished after years of struggle breaking through a death/black/post metal based Lithuanian scene. The band got excellent European reviews, who called the album 'old-school riff based madness', 'a surprise in Thrash metal' and calling the band 'the next big thing'. It was also the year Phrenetix got a slot in Devilstone festival, sharing the stage with names like Striker and Katatonia.

In 2016, Phrenetix played their first European shows in Holland and Latvia. Back home, Phrenetix were chosen to support Thrash Metal giants Testament.
In 2017, the band got the opportunity to support Lich King and Tokyo Blade in Holland and Germany, taking another step to reach the European audience. After playing their biggest show yet in Devilstone, the band pursued further touring in Poland, Germany, Austria and playing festivals in Lithuania in 2018.

In 2018, Phrenetix were chosen to represent Lithuania in Wacken Metal Battle, which took place in Wacken Open Air, summer of 2018. With newly found inspiration and experience, the band scheduled recordings for their second album in late 2019.
