Heliocentric is a one-man band, produced, performed, and fronted by Jared Smith. Taking cues from heavy metal extremists such as Meshuggah and Silent Planet, and combining them with pensive, atmospheric elements, Heliocentric has developed an unmistakable musical signature. With vocals dripping with emotion, Smith distinguishes himself from other metalcore acts by the ferocity of his screaming and the gut-wrenching content of his lyricism.

Formerly known as a Christian metalcore band, Smith disclosed in early 2022 that he is in fact an atheist who writes Christian music. His first album, Perpetual Felicity, was a 12-song exploration of Christian martyrs between the first and fourth centuries. Ishmael, his second album, was a complex conversation between the Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and was completed as his thesis project at Wheaton College.
