Biography

Described as “unapologetic 80s traditional metal worship”, Forsaken Age delivers galloping riffs, power melodies and lyrics which conjure images of vikings and fantasy battles. “With every riff, solo and drum fill, you hear metal lineage recreated, reinterpreted, and celebrated”
The band formed in 2010, playing their debut show at NZ’s Winter Chaos Festival alongside local and Australian acts. They set about writing their first album and supported Tim "Ripper" Owens on his New Zealand solo tour in 2012.
Later that year Forsaken Age self released their debut album Back From Extinction and continued to bring their brand of traditional heavy metal to New Zealand with their “Denim, Leather & Damnation Tour” across the country, as well as securing support for bands such as Nightwish, Alestorm, Lord and Korpiklaani and playing Hell Smashfest New Zealand on several occasions.
This opened the door for the band to head overseas in 2014 to play Steel Assassins True Metal Festival, in Sydney, Australia.
Following some lineup changes, Forsaken Age self released their EP Vengeance Of The Slain which was subsequently picked up by Metal Hell Records in 2016.
The band went from strength to strength, securing further opportunities to perform overseas in Australia at Steel Assassins True Metal Festival, Sydney in 2016, Bangers And Thrash Festival, Sydney in 2017 and Under The Southern Cross Festival, Melbourne & Sydney in 2019. A number of international support slots including The Iron Maidens, Venom Inc., Alestorm, Eluveitie, Ross The Boss and Artillery, gained them widespread acclaim from both reviewers and fans alike. “it was fantastic to see them on a bigger stage where they could really spread their ironclad wings, storming the very walls of the venue itself.”
2020 saw Forsaken Age sign a deal with Pure Steel Records for the release of the full length album Heavy Metal Nightmare on 6th November 2020. The album includes the successful single “Raven’s Cry” which features Tim "Ripper" Owens ex Judas Priest, Iced Earth etc.
