Biography
Method Of Destruction is a metal/hardcore crossover band from New York City, fronted by former Stormtroopers Of Death vocalist Billy Milano in 1986 after Stormtroopers Of Death was put on hiatus. With Method Of Destruction, Milano sought to continue on the musical path of his former band, mixing shades of hardcore punk with thrash metal and often humorous and politically incorrect lyrics.
U.S.A. For M.O.D., the band's debut album, was produced by former Stormtroopers Of Death bandmate and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian. With a title which was a play on a planned Stormtroopers Of Death album, U.S.A. For S.O.D.. Method Of Destruction's sophomore effort, an EP titled Surfin' M.O.D., was somewhat of an anomaly, featuring little thrash metal, focusing more on humorous cover songs and a beach party atmosphere. The band would return to their roots on Gross Misconduct, as well as further expand their sound on Rhythm Of Fear. It was around this time that Milano performed a reunion show with Stormtroopers Of Death at The Ritz in New York.
The following releases, Devolution and Dictated Aggression suffered from poor distribution and going out of print, despite the heavier style and more serious lyrics that Milano utilized. in 1997, A year after the release of Dictated Aggression, the band decided to call it a day and Milano once again teamed up with Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, and Nuclear Assault/Brutal Truth bassist, Danny Lilker for a second Stormtroopers Of Death album, Bigger Than The Devil.
In 2001 Milano recruited a new lineup and recorded The Rebel You Love To Hate, somewhat of a return to Milano's humorous past with jabs at white suburban rap fans and the War on Terrorism. In October 2007, Method Of Destruction released Red, White & Screwed, their seventh album. A year after it was released, the band was put to rest again.
In 2013, Milano brought back Method Of Destruction once again for a 25th anniversary tour, though he was still the only original member remaining. In 2014, they were planning to release another album. However in 2015, it was announced that recording of the upcoming has been postponed indefinitely and all of their 2015 tours scheduled at the time being canceled.
Recording eventually started again in 2016 and their eighth album, Busted, Broke & American, will be released on July 2017 by Megaforce Records.
Milano have stated that this will be the last Method Of Destruction album.
