Biography
Shattering Ice is a solo project founded by Son of Niflheim in Århus, Denmark.
It was started in January 2014 as a band idea between Son of Niflheim, Blizzard and a third member, but quickly got disbanded this way, as there was a geographical difficulty about this project.
While it was still a 3 man project Son of Niflheim started recording songs on his own harshly inspired by bands like Burzum, Lifelover and Taake (with a clear influence from Amon Amarth too).
After the first EP was recorded he decided it to become a solo project completely untill a band opportunity will actually open.
The first EP, "Lost" featured a Melodic Black kind of mixed feel to it, and had 4 tracks where one of those was instrumental.
Shortly after that EP was recorded (and released in around February/March) he started recording a single, featuring two songs (which wasn't released anywhere but soundcloud) already, and got called "Koldt" as one of the songs. Just after that recording of the second EP started, which became known as "Siberian Winters" named after an instrumental dark ambient song on the EP.
This was a 5 track EP, and was released around April.
Since the summer 2014 Son of Niflheim has been working on the first album of the project, entitled "Ragnarok", where two old songs will be re-recorded because of updated software and sound system. Rangarok (From Siberian Winters) and The Last Winter (From Lost), however these tracks would not be recorded at all due to issues with the software.
The album was released the 26th of October where he started his new project under no official name as of yet.
