Biography
October 2000 : Creation of the project Douce Morphine by the duet Matthieu (guitar, programmations, vocals) and Flore (vocals). This project is a synthesis between ametaphorical vision of Nature, reflection of all kind of feeling, Poetry, way of feelings, and an atmopherical metal that we called " spleen metal ".
2001 : recording the demos " Douce Morphine " (july) and " Coeur Sombre " (october).
We began the work on the album " Du Mal de Vivre ". The duet played few gigs.
2002 : production of the album " Du Mal de Vivre " that ended in february 2003.
2003 : release of the demo of the album " Du Mal de Vivre " which served to contact the labels.
Quartet since july, the band is composed of Flore, Rémi (bass), Matthieu and Clément (drums). The MCD " Spleen " is released in september.
2004 : Release of the album " Du Mal de Vivre " mastered in december 2003. First gigs of the quartet which played the songs of the album in powerfuller versions. The songs are re-arranged to suit to the new band.
2005 : We wanted keep the feeling of the months we passed in quartet with a demo : " Des Mots ". We played some of the songs we played on stage during the year 2004 and one new song composed for the next album " Cicatrices ". " Des Mots " is an achievment of almost 2 years of the life of a renewed band. The maxi has a very professional production.
The band played in some gigs this year.
September 2005 : Clément left the band. Douce Morphine began a period of composition and thought about the future album of the trilogy : " Cicatrices ".
2006 : Line-up change : Guillaume (drums) joins the band in april between april and september. Rémi (bass since 2003) left the band in june. Yann (bass) takes his place.
The album " Du Mal de Vivre " is reedited in june after several months of sold out.
2007 : The premixed song " La Dernière Chandelle mmvii " is available for free download before the release of a new virtual MCD " MMVII ".
This 5 titles MCD " MMVII " will be released in the end of september for free download.
New members : Simon (drums) in february, Paul (guitar) in may. The rehearsals becomes more intensive with the new quintet (Flore, Matthieu, Paul, Simon, Yann).
Note : Thomas (guitar) came into the band between february and may.
2008 : the 3 songs MCD " MMVII " is released the 10th of june in free download.
Since 2007 was the rebirth year for DOUCE MORPHINE, 2008 is the blossoming year.
Previsions : during the summer 2008, we will produce 4 songs (Fleur de Métal, Sous les Etoiles Hurlantes, La Dernière Chandelle, Nature Morte). These songs will the gather under the name of " MMVIII ". The virtual MCD will be released within the year.
2009 : The concert Musique contre Nourriture in support of the Banque Alimentaire de Touraine (with the bands Adrana& Annkislion) at Donald's Pub (Tours) was a great success.
This year 2009 will see the split (unfortunately) of the band, but after the release of a last virtual MCD which will contain the whole live track-list (9 titles).
Moreover, a last gig will be played (before the end of the year 2009), live-recorded and filmed (multi-camera) in order to release a virtual DVD.
