Hailing from Guimarães, north of Portugal, Dark Wings Syndrome comes up after two years of Barros Onyx musical silence and from his need to express himself musically the project Dark Wings Syndrome came to life and joining the band was Carlos Barros on drums, Tiago Machado on guitar and Rui Ferreira on bass and keys. The choice of these 4 musicians is made by the creativity and musical expression in which they move. The more complex and smooth side of their sound experiences come from the world of "world music" and the other side comes from their origins in the world of heavy rock. In 2010, due to professional issues, Tiago Machado and Carlos Barros left the band and were replaced by David "M" Viegas and Peter Martins respectively. Also in 2010 the band hired Ricardo Lourenço to play second guitar. As well the band wanted to reach a new level of musicality so they also hired several international musicians to perform guest appearances on their 2010 debut album Arcane.
