Biography
Timeghoul was started in 1987 by founding members Mike Stevens and Jeff Hayden who were friends in high school. Originally called Doom's Lyre, Mike and Jeff basically learned to play guitar together and began making music from the beginning. They both enjoyed Thrash and Death Metal music and also played Dungeons & Dragons occasionally. After Tony Holman (Antonio Andre) joined the band on drums with his friend Chad McNeely, originally a guitarist, on bass. Gutspawn was one of the first songs ever played as a full band and Timeghoul was born. Jeff was always a very creative lyricist and also took on the vocal duties with his deep, guttural yet very intelligible pronunciation style. Most of the Tumultuous Travelings demo as well as parts of the Panaramic Twilight recording were created through Mike and Jeff's ability to improvise while playing together. Jeff soon became more interested in composing music in a somewhat more of an orchestral way and wanted to add a third guitar to the lineup in order to create more harmony and intricacies. This action and the lack of Mike's musical input during this transition led to Mike leaving with Chad soon to follow. T. J. Oldani and Gordon Blodgett were two guitar playing friends that filled the open spots via a local flyer. T.J. and Gordon helped Jeff realize his vision of three guitar harmony. Timeghoul soon ended post recording of Panaramic Twilight with Jeff taking on the bass duties in studio. Mike returned to try to resurrect the band but to no avail. It seemed that Timeghoul was frozen into infinity.
