In France alone, during the revolution, people didn't like the Bretons and the Vendéens, then it was enemy countries during the Napoleonic wars, then Polish and Italian immigrants, then Algerian immigrants, etc.
In every political regime throughout human history, people have hated something, whether it's another ethnicity, religion, or way of thinking. It's not about capitalism.
I agree with what you said except the last part. Believe me, the only thing that humans have mastered is hating each other, capitalism doesn't change anything at all.
Instead of rising up against the financial elites, we let them manipulate us into hating each other. The homophobia in response to our support of the pride movement is a good indicator of that.
