Among the plethora of German summer festivals Eisenwahn is a little gem. Located in Obersinn in Central Germany, 80 km east of Frankfurt, it is surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Spessart mountain range. While other festivals concentrate on bands as selling point, Eisenwahn has also put a large emphasis on atmosphere. And so its 2000 annual visitors are not only treated with a familial atmosphere, a beautiful landscape and an awesome lineup, but also with great catering, a cocktail bar, a beach bar, a hookah lounge and breakfast and drugstore booths at the camping area.

If you don't only want to have a chillin' time, but also want to rock out to some decent extreme metal, then you're in for a treat. Headlined by legends of grindcore and death metal Napalm Death and Cryptopsy and featuring acclaimed dark metal bands Dornenreich, Graveworm and Eisregen you get both brutality and atmosphere. Headbanging galore! All these and many more play on the stage at the bottom of a slightly sloped hill, so no matter where you're standing (or lying), you'll always have perfect sight.

So how do you get there? The Spessart area is surrounded by a triangle of Autobahns between Frankfurt, Würzburg and Fulda, so it is relatively easy to get there by car. Exact directions can be found here.
You can also get there quite easily by train. Check out the page of the Deutsche Bahn and enter Obersinn as destination to find a schedule that suits you best.
If you arrive from further away you might want to consider to fly. The nearest airports are Frankfurt Airport and Nuremberg Airport. Check the Wikipedia links to find out whether an airport in your area flies to either of these two airports. Tickets for this event are obtainable at the festival's shop and cost 28 euros for two days incl. camping.
