Solefald - Neonism And Linear Scaffold To Be Reissued

The following is a posting by Solefald guitarist Cornelius Jakhelln on the band's offical MySpace page:

"I am happy to announce - and this time for real! - that the two first Solefald albums are now scheduled for an imminent re-release on Avantgarde Music. I know it has taken a long time to have those old gems back in the shelves again. Coordinating the new layout and the remastering of the albums has probably been more time-consuming than recording them! The delay should also benefit our listeners, as the albums sound better after a professional remastering at Masterhuset in Oslo. This applies especially to "Neonism". The precise date for the reissues has not been fixed yet. It will happen sometime early in 2007."

Halford - To Reissue Albums Through Metal God Entertainment

Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford has announced plans to post a monthly blog on his official web site and MySpace page. "I've got some pics and stories which I'll post later next month and I'm looking forward to sharing," he said.

On the subject of his current activities, Halford said, "I spent my recent break from the Judas Priest writing sessions looking in on the assembling of the forthcoming Fight and Halford music and film releases. They are f**kin' hot. You all have some great surprises in store."

Halford has laid out an ambitious release schedule for his new company called Metal God Entertainment (MGE). This year, Halford will reissue some of his non-Judas Priest material through MGE, starting with the Halford albums he made in 2000, 2001, and 2002, and he's also planning two DVDs and possibly some other music for next year. Halford told Launch he started MGE so that he could better control how things are released and promoted. "We really are very possessive of what we create, and we nurture it, obviously, from conception to its release," he said. "Most labels do an incredible job, and, and that's always been the case for me, but here's an opportunity now for me to look after things a little bit better, and give me a little bit more peace of mind in that area."

Besides working on MGE projects, Halford is in the midst of writing with Judas Priest. They're making a concept album about the 16-century prophet Nostradamus.

Atheist - Guitarist Sidelined

Veteran Atheist guitarist Rand Burkey has been forced to bow out of the bands forthcoming festival performances due to legal troubles.

Filling in for Burkey will be veteran guitarist Chris Baker. Baker will be joining core Atheist members Kelly Shaefer, Tony Choy, and Steve Flynn as well as guitarist Sonny Carson (who will be playing Shaefer's guitar role due to Shaefer's long-running battles w/ tendonitis and carpal tunnel.) Baker and Carson are currently playing with Steve Flynn's new band Gnostic.

"In fine Atheist tradition we've been dealt another set of obstacles to overcome. These new problems have made these upcoming shows come very close to not happening but Chris is an extraordinary player, and has done a great job on the very difficult task of dissecting and learning Rand's guitar parts" says Shaefer. "Not having Rand be able to take part is a disappointment to us, but we have always honored our band commitments, even in the face of unbelievable odds, and this will be no exception. We've been playing these songs for months now, they are sounding great! We simply cannot wait to get it on!."
