Brent Hinds has broken his leg in a motorcycle accident, it has been revealed. The Mastodon guitarist/vocalist was about to play a few shows with his other band Giraffe Tongue Orchestra. Meanwhile, Mastodon are done with their new album, confirmed by Troy Sanders, which will be released next year. So, at least there's that!

Here's an update on Mastodon's new album. To follow Once More 'Round The Sun (2014), the band is planning a double album, according to guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds. He told Guitar World that he is busy preparing Giraffe Tongue Orchestra for their live shows and forthcoming full-length debut and Mastodon are also working on their next record.

Mastodon are giving back to the community, with a place to jam! The metal quartet are opening up a rehearsal studio. The facility, which will be named Ember City after the Mastodon song (from Once More 'Round The Sun), is being spearheaded by guitarist Bill Kelliher, who has taken on the bulk of the workload. They purchased a building that will soon be used to house rehearsal and practice spaces for local artists and musicians.

In bad news today, Mastodon have cancelled their upcoming shows. According to their statement, the band must cancel their upcoming shows that were to take place from August 7th through September 5th due to a personal family matter. The stoner metallers will return to the road for the Rock In Rio festival in Brazil on September 25th. No such luck for the fans who were seeing them on the upcoming European shows and festivals as well as Heavy MTL Festival 2015 in Canada.

The metal quartet appeared in the episode that was broadcast on Sunday 31st of May in the US, at the invitation of the show's creator/executive producer Dan Weiss. They played wildlings.

Mastodon was nominated for the Grammy Awards, which took place on the 8th of February, for the category of "Best Metal Performance". They didn't win anything, Tenacious D won, but they did get some attention: Brann Dailor with his very recognizable attire, and Brent Hinds for his behavior. According to Benjamin Weinman, known from being the lead guitarist in The Dillinger Escape Plan and working with Brent Hinds in Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, he reportedly got "kicked out of the awards show cause he pored his bag all over the floor and undies and money and weed spilled everywhere and he wouldn't pick it up. "Sir you have to leave." "Why" "because you don't know how to behave!"
