Insomnium - Working On New Album

Finnish melodic death metal band Insomnium are currently working on the successor to Across The Dark. The band will enter the studio in April for a tentative release later this year through Century Media Records.

The band issued the following update: "The fifth Insomnium studio album is beginning to take shape. We had a 3-day training and songwriting session last week and we can now say that we have about 8 songs more or less ready. We are entering the studio in April so we should have enough time to finish everything. Some observers commented that the material sounds surprisingly ready taken that this was only the second training session for the new album...

We also had a promo shoot with the legendary photographer Stefan de Batselier who has previously worked with some small American names like Johnny Cash and Metallica. Big thanks to Stefan for a nice afternoon! Also thanks to Jussi Ratilainen who is documenting the whole process! Here are some pics taken by Jussi."

Vomitory - New Album Details

Swedish death metal band Vomitory have revealed the album artwork and tracklisting for their long-anticipated eighth studio album Opus Mortis VIII.

The new effort was produced, engineered and mixed by Rikard Löfgren in his own Leon music studios. Unsurprisingly the album "proves to be the best sounding Vomitory album ever!"

Opus Mortis VIII will be released on April 23rd/26th in Europe through Metal Blade Records. The limited first edition will be a Digipak featuring four exclusive bonus tracks. Those tracks are re-recorded versions of songs taken off the first two Vomitory albums.

Commented drummer Tobias Gustafsson (The Project Hate MCMXCIX, Torture Division): "Opus Mortis VIII is our eighth album (no shit!) - our eighth Opus of Death. And I dare to say that this is one of the strongest albums we've done, and it most certainly has the most powerful production we've ever had on any album, hands down. For the third time, we worked with Rikard Löfgren in his Leon Music Studios. We raised the bar quite a few notches in the studio - both production-wise and performance-wise, and we couldn't be happier with the result. We are not breaking new death metal ground with this album - that was never Vomitorys' mission - but Opus Mortis VIII offers diversity and dynamics that you haven't quite heard from Vomitory before. Still, this is a very intense and aggressive album in the true Vomitory tradition - all the essential signature details are there. Once you hear the opening track, "Regorge In The Morgue", you will need no further proof of that!"

Opus Mortis VIII cover art] tracklist:

01. Regorge In The Morgue
02. Bloodstained
03. They Will Burn
04. The Dead Awaken
05. Hate In A Time Of War
06. Torturous Ingenious
07. Forever Damned
08. Shrouded In Darkness
09. Combat Psychosis
10. Requiem For The Fallen

Nominon - Part Ways With Guitarist

Swedish death metal act Nominon has issued the following update on the band's current activities:

"Some kick ass news: a shorter European trek is now under construction between late March and early April. Support will come from the fleshy German deathsters Lifeless, a band that just released a killer fucking debut album on IbexMoon Records. So what are you clubs and promoters waiting for?! Drop us a mail if you're interested to book this package. For more details and already confirmed dates, check Gigs!

Furthermore we have to reveal some sort of severe news as well, since it's now obvious that longtime Nominon member Christian "AntiChristian" Strömblad has been forced to lay his axe to rest for the time being due to some personal shit. Nominon collectively wishes Mr Strömblad all the best of luck and hope that everything will work out for the best. What we have accomplished and yet also what we've been going through during the last six years together is something that only a handful of people in the world would have managed to come out of alive, yet we fucking pulled it off.

New guitarist is youngster Alexander Lyrbo who has proven himself more than worthy to fill AntiChristian's bloodstained boots. Alex first performance with Nominon as a permanent member will take place in Zabrze, Poland March 5th. Even though AntiChristian's departure we certainly proved once again that nothing seems to be able to kill this mighty entity known to the living dead as Nominon.

This marks yet a new chapter in the unholy world of Nominon. We expect it to be a bloody one."

"Imaginarium" is a music fantasy - film based on the forthcoming Nightwish album of the same title and its 13 songs.

The protagonist of the film is a songwriter with an otherworldly imagination. He is an old man who still thinks he's a young boy. While asleep he travels into his distant past where his dreams of old come back to him mixed to the young boy's world of fantasy and music.

In his dreams the old man fights to find the memories most important to him.

This never-done-before project originates to more than two years in the past when Tuomas first introduced his ambitious idea of the "Imaginarium" - concept to the fellow band members and to Mr. Stobe Harju, the director behind "The Islander" - music video. He will be the director of this full-length feature. The film will be produced by Solar Films Inc. together with Nightwish.

The shootings for "Imaginarium" will begin this spring, it will have its premiere in 2012 and the album it's based on will be released in an undefined point in time.
