Immortal - Live DVD Coming Out In August

Immortal will release their first-ever concert DVD, The Seventh Date Of Blashyrkh, on August 6 via Nuclear Blast. The disc will include professionally filmed video footage of the band's headlining performance at the 2007 edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, which was held August 2-4, 2007 in Wacken, Germany.

In an April interview with About.com, Demonaz said the band is making progress on writing their next album. He said: "We already have three songs for the next album. We'll be working on the album this year. And we have material for a lot of other songs, so maybe in August we'll be finished with half the album. But we haven't come so far that I can see the end of the album. I think we'll try to work with the songs and make them classic Immortal songs. The next album will be different than All Shall Fall. I think the songs will come off as one package. Every album is different for us, but we won't try too many new things. We'll stick to the plan and make the music we like."

Heaven And Hell - Tony Iommi Talks About The Future

Tony Iommi has talked to Sunday Mercury, a Birmingham newspaper about what the future might hold.

He confirms that the tribute show at the High Voltage festival in London will be "the very last gig we play as Heaven And Hell", as they "chose the name because the band comprised the Black Sabbath line-up that made the Heaven And Hell album." And that they will no longer carry on as Heaven And Hell, as they "couldn't carry on under that name without Ronnie".

Regarding a reunion with Ozzy; he stated "I spoke to Ozzy while I was in Los Angeles after Ronnie's funeral, and he said he'd give me a call when he got to England on his own tour". But that "I've not had that telephone call yet".

About the future, Iommi says they would "like to do something, and carry on playing", but "in what form, and with what singer, I don't know".

Imperial Vengeance - Recording Sophomore Album

British extreme metal act Imperial Vengeance have entered the studio to begin recording of their second album, due for release later this year via Transcend Records. The album promises to be a nightmarish tapestry of opiate Victoriana and Kafkaesque atmospheres. Ms. Lori Lewis, the acclaimed soprano with Therion, Aesma Daeva joined the band the studio this weekend for the recording of "The Black Heart of Empire"; bringing her voice to a double slice of IV intrigue - "The Devil in The Detail" and "Veiled Threats Over Cocktails".

The band had the following to say: "Having someone that comes primarily from a classical background, but additionally works in the Metal industry, rather than it being the other way around, was the priority. Both of the new tracks are specifically rooted in specific styles of singing and given Lori's extensive history with such entities as Minnesota Orchestra, The St Paul Chamber Orchestra, and VocalEssence, she understands the nuances and intricacies involved. It was amazing, she nailed the parts first time in virtually every take."

Preceding this album release, Imperial Vengeance are set to unleash a special edition DVD of director's cut videos and extensive exclusive extras on 12th July. This special edition disc features promo videos for the album track, "6th Airborne Division", shot at the 400 Company studios in London and their Madness cover, "Night Boat To Cairo" plus tons of special features including audio commentaries by C. Edward Alexander (aka Charles Hedger (Cradle Of Filth)) and David Bryan, unseen production photo galleries, behind the scenes footage - "A Gentlemans's Miscellany" and "The Cairo Cutaway" and exclusive footage from "The Harry Patch Recordings".

All info about the band and tour dates (with Sabbat in August) at MySpace.

Whyzdom - Vocalist Leaves The Band, Seek Replacement

French metallers Whyzdom have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Dear friends

We are very sad to announce that Telya recently decided to leave Whyzdom.

We want to thank Telya for all the great moments we shared. They will remain in our memories forever. We wish her an enormous success and we surely will have the pleasure to hear and see her again in other projects that will reveal her great talent.

Here is the message she wanted us to pass: "Dear all! All beautiful stories come to an end. The end of an adventure for me. I'm announcing that I decided to quit Whyzdom. The reasons that led me to this choice are both personal and artistic. The band project of Vynce was a fantastic experience from the artistic as well as human viewpoint. As a young singer, it allowed me to learn many things, to meet great people, to live magical instants on stage. However, all has not been simple and easy and I've come to a time when it's difficult for me to make concessions and to go against my own choices and my artistic will. I've always been honest with my convictions and with myself, so I don't cheat with what I feel. This decision has been made very carefully, and I hope you will understand it and take it as good as possible. It is necessary to allow me to go on an artistic way that fits me better and that will make me evolve at my own pace. I'll keep you informed with my future projects via my personel MySpace. Kisses from the deep of my heart and much more..."

Of course, Whyzdom is still alive and kicking! The band remains strong and united and ready to meet all the challenges we can find!

Firstly, the band will continue to perform live with a guest singer, until we'll be able to definitely announce the name of our new front woman. More info about our guest singer will follow in the next few days.

Secondly, the composition of our forthcoming album is almost done. 14 tracks have been under work for several monthes. 11 among them stand out, so we're already working on the arrangements. 1 or 2 more songs will also be recorded to be used as "bonus" or on a potential single. The visual concept is also under work in close collaboration with Les Creations Vultus, and we are already thinking about shooting a video clip with them. The album title should be announced in the next few weeks. Whyzdom should be entering the studio next December.

It will be:
- even more symphonic,
- even more epic,

Borknagar - Rejoined By I.C.S Vortex On Upcoming Tour

As was speculated, I.C.S Vortex (ex-Dimmu Borgir, ex-Arcturus) has returned to Borknagar after the departure of bassist Tyr just last week. I.C.S Vortex will be handling both bass and vocals duties for Borknagar's upcoming tour.

The band is currently working on touring plans for the future. Due to private commitments vocalist Andreas "Vintersorg" Hedlund (Vintersorg, Cronian) is unfortunately not able to join the band on the road for the moment being. Because of this, I.C.S. Vortex will step in to the fold to handle vocal and bass for upcoming live activities.

Guitarist Øystein G. Brun comments: "As stated in several interviews the last couple of month's it's our firm intention to bring the band's live activities up a notch - in respect for all our fans. There is just no way we can dismiss all the requests we get all over the world. We are currently working on some really interesting touring plans, but unfortunately our brother in music Vintersorg is not able to come along for the moment being due to private commitments. So Vortex being a previous member and always a good friend of the band, it feels great to have him back in the fold in order to execute these plans. Also, I would like to express my deepest admiration for Vintersorg's open minded and supportive attitude, embracing the idea to pull this off with Vortex in his absence- to make this a genuine and worthy solution for Borknagar."

Vintersorg comments: "This is just what the band needs at the moment. I'm not leaving the band or anything like that, but my work situation is holding me back for doing these shows. I know I.C.S Vortex will bring all his personality and skills into this to make it perfect! I wish I could be there."

I.C.S Vortex comments: "I am looking forward to see all you old school helmet-wearing mo-fos on the road and to spend some quality time once again with my favorite vikings. Let's make this event "a really special BM party come on!"

More information about the concerts will be posted soon.

Sodom - US Tour Cancelled Due To Visa Issues

German thrash legends Sodom have cancelled their upcoming US tour.

The band's statement reads as follows: "Due to solid problems with our local tour promoter and getting our Visa in time, we are forced to cancel the upcoming shows. We already had our suitcases packed and were ready to go. We are awfully sorry to take these steps, but everybody acquainted with the entering provisions of the USA knows what we're talking about. We are deeply disappointed by this situation, but in the end there's the awareness, that not everything is done to our entire satisfaction.

We are "only" the musicians, who would have loved to rock the USA again. We owe this to our fans, even more because we made ourselves scarce in the US since the foundation of this band, of course through no fault of our own. The one who botched this up will have to be confronted with the local organizers and club owners and account for his faults.

We surely will catch up on these shows as soon as possible, which we especially owe to our fans. In the end, this set of problems redounds upon us, because we're in the front line and have to be answerable to our fans. I hope we didn't lose too many fans due to this mess, but all people who know us are aware of the fact, that we would do anything for our fans. The risk of being forbidden to enter the USA for 10 years or even getting arrested is too high. We hope for your understanding and keep you informed about the latest facts."

In other news, Sodom recently completed their forthcoming DVD, Lords Of Depravity Part 2.
