Diablo - Update From The Band
Diablo vocalist/guitarist Rainer Nygård has posted the following update concerning the band's upcoming endeavours:
"Late autumn last year we thought that we needed some time off from rock 'n' roll business. It was a good choice because now that our mental and physical batteries are full again, it's easier to think about future. So in the beginning of this year we started to work with new material on a more serious basis. At the moment we've got enough ideas and material for me to say that we will release a new Diablo album in the future. Date is open of course but when the stars are on the right position we will inform you guys.
Most of the stuff is of course brand new but we will also give a shot for couple of strong older riff's which did not open in last producing sessions the way we wanted them to. At this point it's hard to say what the next album is going to be like, but fast enough for sure, ha ha! I also think that we use keyboards more open mindedly than in previous albums. Sounds a bit suspicious, eh? Don't worry, it will be still uncompromising heavy metal. I have some ideas about the "big theme" and graphics too. For me especially those two are the most important things in starting a new project seriously.
Last night I copied to this laptop all ideas related to lyrics and production etc. from my mobile. Suddenly I got a bad vibe that my phone might face an accident in the near future and I could end up loosing all ideas from 2007-2010. Some might say I am superstitious, eh!!??
We have promised to do only two gigs during the summer of 2010, and rest of the year is left open on purpose. If some interesting offers come in sigh, we might reconsider but otherwise we're concentrating on writing new material."

Officium Triste - Update From The Band
Dutch Death Doom metal band Officium Triste were so kind to post the following news:
"2010 is already 3 months on its way so it is about time to let you all know what's going on with Officium Triste. We've got some bad news and some more exciting news. Let's start with the bad news. We had to part ways with drummer Ronald Lagerwaard. Ronald simply couldn't commit to the plans we have concerning Officium Triste's future. Because of this we had to make a difficult decision as we really appreciated Ronald as a person and as a skilled drummer. As a band we do want to perform live on a regular basis and that simply wasn't possible due to logistics and personal affairs. We like to thank Ronald for his time in Officium Triste.
In the meantime we have found a replacement. After some serious brainstorming who would be an ideal drummer we decided to ask Niels Jordaan who in the past pounded the drums for the now defunct band In Age And Sadness. Since we shared the stage with In Age And Sadness several times in the past we knew Niels would be a good replacement. Niels gladly accepted our offer and we are currently rehearsing material with Niels.
Next to the news about out change in the line-up we are working very hard on material for our new, 5th, full-length album. Right now we have plenty of ideas for 6 to 7 new songs and it's coming along nicely. We hope to finish the album before the summer and have it released this fall. This will be our last album under the current contract with Displeased Records.
At this moment we are also negotiating a couple of festival appearances later this year. More news about those performances is expected soon."

Adagio - Hire Mats Levén For Upcoming European Tour
Last week the French progressive symphonic metal band reported they had parted ways with vocalist Christian Palin. But the show must go on, as Adagio will be supporting Kamelot on their upcoming European tour next month. Now, Adagio are pleased to announce that none other than Swedish singer Mats Levén (Krux, ex-At Vance, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, ex-Therion) will be joining them on tour.
Guitarist Stéphan Forté states: "Mats is an incredible singer and performer, with a tremendous technique. His unique tone, both aggressive and melodic, fits Adagio's music wondefully. So, we're very much looking forward to meeting all of you guys next month on the tour with Kamelot... We're fuckin' impatient to share a dark musical moment with you!"

Stormzone - Sophomore Album Out Soon
Official press release
Formed in 2005 in Belfast by vocalist John "Harv" Harbinson, Stormzone recorded their debut album soon after and secured a deal with UK Rock label Escape Music who released Caught In The Act in 2007 (also released by Avalon/Marquee in Japan in the same year). The album was a superb hard rock record was also essentially a "studio" band album with Harv and friends playing all instruments. The cover artwork for Caught In The Act was painted by famous fantasy artist Rodney Matthews. Rodney has also contributed the artwork for the new Stormzone album Death Dealer.
It was not until later in 2007 that the full Stormzone line-up was formed, essentially to tour in promotion of the debut album with all the musicians being from Belfast. Most had previously played in local bands except drummer Davy Bates. He was the sticks-man for legendary Belfast band Sweet Savage (immortalized when Metallica covered their "Killing Time" opus as the B side of The Unforgiven).
Stormzone attracted many friends with the debut album including admiration from legendary producer/DJ Neal Kay who saw in the band the same early signs of stardom shown by another group he discovered, Iron Maiden! With the band playing live constantly they inevitably hardened up their sound so the new recordings came out much more aggressive than the first album but still kept the quality, melody and harmony of before. Co-produced by Neal Kay the new album was finished towards the end of 2009.
The recordings were sent by Davy Bates to Jess Cox the M.D. of Metal Nation Ltd. (Jess is the original Tygers Of Pan Tang vocalist and previous owner of Neat Records who also recorded the Killing Time Sweet Savage album ten years earlier). He was so impressed he offered to manage the band immediately and shortly afterwards licensed the new album to SPV/Steamhammer in Germany.
The new album Death Dealer will be released in Europe on April 26th, 2010 (in Germany April 23rd, 2010).

Immortal - Too Tr00 For Spellemann Award Nomination
Norwegian black metal squad Immortal have announced their latest album All Shall Fall was nominated for this year's "Spellemannsprisen" in Norway. The Spellemann Awards are the Norwegian equivalent of the US Grammy Awards.
The band didn't want to be part of that and rejected the nomination.
Rumor on the streets of the grim and frostbitten kingdom has it, the band stated their "thanks, but no thanks" because the Spellemann Awards are chosen by a jury and not by the fans... So technically their participation for the upcoming Metal Storm Awards is not at stake here (that is, if they are nominated of course ). Spicy detail: it was the band's label that entered the band for the Spellemann.
Other nominees for "best metal album" are Code (Resplendent Grotesque), The Cumshots (A Life Less Necessary) and Årabrot (The Brother Seed). The awards are presented on March 6th 2010.
