Destruction - Upcoming Compilation Details Revealed

AFM Records have issued the following press release with regards to the forthcoming Destruction Best Of compilation, "Thrash Anthems", scheduled for a January 22nd release in Europe, and a January 23rd release in North America via Candlelight Records.

"Thrash Anthems will include 13 Destruction classics from the Years 1984 to 1990, but who will think of just another Best Of album now is completely wrong. All the classics are new recorded and re-arranged. The band worked with nearly the same team which did the production of the outstanding Inventor Of Evil album. The tracks were mixed by one of the best metal producers in Europe: Jacob Hansen, the Danish producer/INVOCATOR singer and guitarist.

The result: 13 Destruction old school classics with an outstanding sound. A very interesting feauture for all Destruction fans should be the songs that were never released before with singer Schmier on vocals. In additions to this, the album will contain two brand new Destruction tracks, so it will contain over 70 minutes of thrash power. Once again we will get value for money from Destruction. But, this is what we get all the time from Schmier and his bandmates."

Thrash Anthems will include the following tracklisting: 'Deposition (Your Heads Will Roll)' (new track), 'Invincible Force', 'Release From Agony', 'Mad Butcher', 'Sign Of Fear', 'Death Trap', 'Life Without Sense', 'Total Desaster', 'Bestial Invasion', 'Reject Emotions', 'Tormentor', 'Unconscious Ruins', 'Curse The Gods', 'Cracked Brain', 'Profanity' (new track), 'Eternal Ban' (bonus track).

April - Songs From Upcoming Album Streaming Online

Upcoming Finnish metallers April have released some songs for preview from their upcoming album "Tidelines" to be released on the 7th of January, 2007. They can be heard at their Myspace page. April have played at major metal festivals and also supported Bullet for My Valentine on their recent tour.

A short biography:
Helsinki-based five-piece metal combo was founded in 2004. The band's trademark is relentless blend of soulful heavy metal with melodic and pop-esque twists - I guess you could say that April is the old dogs new bag of tricks - a modern metal gem in the global pile of faceless bands jumping the bandwagon.

After signing to Spinefarm Records in early 2006, the band immediately started the pre-production of their debut album - due out in February 2007 - with Tero Kinnunen, a Finnish producer whose work with million-selling Nightwish has won international recognition and acclaim.

The upcoming album "Tidelines" is filled with virtuoso vocals, gigantic and heavy riffs as well as beautiful and balanced songwriting. It's definitely heavy metal but with alternative rock and pop music flavours.

Between the recording sessions April has supported Welsh heroes Bullet For My Valentine, played two major open-air metal festivals and spent numerous hours rehearsing and sharpening their skills for future attacks!

Entombed, Dismember, Grave - Tour Cancelled In North America

The previously announced Entombed/Dismember/Grave "The Absence North American" tour, which was scheduled to take place December 1-16, is now officially cancelled.

Entombed posted the following on the bands official myspace page:

'Due to circumstances beyond our control Entombed sadly has had to postpone their upcoming USA West Coast trek.

We were very much looking forward to this tour, but conflicts with the promotor, breach of trust and straight up lies have unfortunately forced us to cancel at the eleventh hour. Never in 15 years of touring the States has this happened, which really is saying something. We are appalled, and you should not be surprised if you see/hear more lies spread about how it is Entombed's fault that we could not do the tour because we changed our minds or some shit like that. Simply not true. We've never seen blame passed around like this ever before and deeply regret having lent our name to this madness.

We abominally want to apologise to good folks like Dinis of The Mighty Nimbus, who have taken time off work and rented a car to come see the show, but look forward to hitting American shores in 2007, hot on the heels of our upcoming studio album release, "Serpent Saints".'

Rage - Nuclear Blast 20 Years Compilation

Posted on Rage's official website on October 29th:

At the moment, Victor is working on another big project, a compilation CD for the 20th anniversary of Nuclear Blast.
It will be an album, for which Victor will completely compose, record and produce about 10 songs for various metal bands of Nuclear Blast history, inclusive a new Rage song, furthermore Peavy helped with the lyrics! The organisation is big stress, as it's not so easy, to get musicians from all over the world with different tour and studio schedules reconciled.
A detailed studio report of this production will follow.

Shadows Fall - Drops Off Upcoming Tour

Atlantic Recording Group Shadows Fall has reluctantly decided that the intensity of their current recording sessions has made it impossible for the band to hit the concert trail next month for their previously announced shows with Killswitch Engage and Bury Your Dead. The Springfield, MA-based rock outfit is hard at work in the studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Stone Sour, Rush) recording their highly anticipated Atlantic debut, due in early 2007.

"We are all very disappointed that we will not be able to hit the road with our friends in Killswitch Engage and Bury Your Dead," said Shadows Fall lead singer Brian Fair.

"Originally, we had hoped to complete the recording of our new album in time for the beginning of the tour on November 9th, but now it appears that will not be possible. New ideas have continued to surface and push the songs into new directions that we have to pursue. Making the best album possible is our number one priority and something we must focus on one hundred percent at this time. We sincerely apologize to all the people that planned on coming to see us at these shows, but our absence is no reason not to go and support this tour. Our bros from New England in Killswitch Engage and Bury Your Dead will be throwing it down the way only they can and this should not be missed by anyone!! We will keep you posted as we wrap up the album and make plans to get back on the road."

Massachusetts-based metal act All That Remains will join up with fellow New England natives Killswitch Engage for a string of dates throughout November, replacing Shadows Fall as direct support for the package which also features Bury Your Dead and 2 Cents.
