Malevolent Creation - Rejoined By Original Bassist

Malevolent Creation have once again been rejoined by original bassist Jason Blachowicz. Blachowicz initially left on good terms to further his tattoo career, but the death metal sickness still runs deep in his veins.

"Been in hiding, working in tattoo shops for quite some time now but my gut has been aching to do one of the things that I do best... spreading malevolence across the globe with my brothers in metal," commented Blachowicz. "The evil in my blood has motivated me to dust the cobwebs off of my bass and commit to performing blasphemy and anger upon mine and everyone else's ears once again. This is also for one of my inspirations, Peter Steele, and for all of the loyal Malevolent Creation fans who have been supporting us for 23 fucking years! Our 11th album, Invidious Dominion, is going to rip the weak and feeble to shreds."

Malevolent Creation's 11th studio outing was produced and recorded by Erik Rutan at Mana Studios in Florida. The new album, entitled Invidious Dominion, will be released on August 24th in North America via Nuclear Blast.

Lullacry - Taking A Fresh Start

Last Friday lead guitarist Sami Vauhkonen issued the following update on the whereabouts of Finnish metal band Lullacry:

"It's been a while since the last update from the Lullacry camp. After a hard and complicated fourth album we took some time off. In 2008 we were ready to record some new material, with a new interesting record deal with quite a big german label. Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Moonspell, Apocalyptica etc.) was going to be the producer for that album.

But then suddenly just before the studio, without any warning we lost the connection to the label. After a couple of months I read from the newspapers that they went bankrupt. Fuck that.

Now when I look back, I can say that it was a blessing in disguise. Compared to the new songs, the older material was not as good. It wasn't the right time I guess...

Now it's a fresh new start. I've written some killer songs and I must say that a new era of Lullacry has begun! We are currently recording a couple of those songs and we'll put them online as soon as possible. Stay tuned and rock with Lullacry!"

The band's latest output, Vol. 4, dates back from 2005. Lullacry are set to play some new tracks live at Dante's Highlight in Helsinki, on Saturday 24 July. The band is currently looking for a label.

Orphaned Land - Forced To Cancel Show In Turkey Due To Political Crisis

The show of Israeli metal band Orphaned Land at Sonisphere Istanbul had to be cancelled due to the ongoing crisis between Turkey and Israel after the Gaza flotilla raid. The band has posted the following statement on the official website:

"Merhaba, shalom & salam to all our beloved fans & friends.

2 weeks ago, we were the happiest band on earth when we were announced to Sonisphere Istanbul, we all waited for this moment for so long.

Then, a political fucked up crisis started between our countries and a whole chaos started to go on and unfortunately still goes on till that moments.

After a few days of rumors we were sadly announced today that the security company who is responsible of the festival cannot guarantee our safety during the fest and therefore our show had to be delayed from this year?

You have to know that, we, Orphaned Land, we felt safe and we 100% wanted to come despite all, to have that show for the purpose of peace, friendship and brotherhood of our nations. The facts are that this is a big festival, with many people and many bands, and the security company didn't want to risk all of that just because of us. We couldn't agree with it, but we fully understand it and respect it. Yet, we and Purple productions, are very sad, it is such a strange feeling not to be able to play in Turkey, this is our second home!

Due to the situation that was created our show moved to Sonisphere Romania. We promise you all that we will make the maximum efforts to schedule new dates in Turkey very soon. We personally feel safe; we don't need any kind of security, surrounded by all of you makes us safe, but this is just us.

We wish to thank our amazing fans who wrote "Serefe" in our facebook fan page (there were hundreds of you!!) To all the people that opened support groups and even the ones that just expressed their opinion; you all are the greatest gift that a band could get. Please don't be sad about this cancellation, all delays are for the good, one day, politicians will learn and take an example from you and us, Inshallah.

Before we leave please remember this, our orphaned brothers - our countries flags may have different signs and colors but deep in our hearts shines the same flag - the flag of hope, friendship, brotherhood, don't ever forget it - it is our duty as disciples of the sacred oath.

Sherefe & mujuck to all of you,
ORPHANED LAND"

Autopsy - Fully Reactivated, Abscess Disbanded

After 16 years of delivering punishing, extreme heavy metal, California's Abscess has decided to call it quits. The band's sixth and final studio album, Dawn of Inhumanity, was released in March on Peaceville Records.

Abscess drummer/vocalist, Chris Reifert (ex-Death, Autopsy), issued the following statement: "We need to inform you that Abscess has officially broken up. The reason for this is that Clint Bower (session Autopsy bassist) has left the band for personal reasons, and out of respect to him and to all who have supported us for these 16 years, we have decided to call it a day. Without Clint Bower, there can be no Abscess, so we won't even try to cheat anyone with something that is not the real thing. Dawn of Inhumanity has become our final statement, and we feel that it is the perfect way to close the Abscess chapter, since we must do so. Thanks to all of you who were and still are proud to call yourselves Abscess Freaks!"

While Abscess has been officially laid to rest, the legendary Autopsy has been resurrected as a full time focus. Autopsy recently played at the eighth annual Maryland Deathfest, and has headlining performances scheduled for the Party.San Open Air and the Hole in the Sky festivals this summer.

Autopsy comments: "As many of you know, for years it has been repeatedly stated that Autopsy was over with and done for good. While that was indeed true for a long span of time, it is no longer the case. Autopsy has come to the solid realization that the time is now right to resume their mission of gore soaked death metal brutality and to fulfill this mission with maximum intensity. Make no mistake about it, Autopsy is not about reliving the past, basking in nostalgia or riding on efforts from years long gone. The band is hungry to devour fresh minds and souls and has been amassing an arsenal of new and deathly material to unleash upon those who also hunger for such brutality. The surgical instruments are being sharpened and a pure death metal assault of the most horrific order is underway as you read these very words. On behalf of the band, thanks goes out to all who relented and simply would not allow this beast to remain in the grave. Your persistence will be met with unspeakable and unapologetic sonic atrocities. Let the blood flow...."

Autopsy will release a new EP, entitled The Tomb Within, this August on Peaceville Records. Artwork will come courtesy of renowned horror/fantasy artist, Matt Cavotta. Autopsy's fifth full-length record, Macabre Eternal, is due out early next year.

Iron Maiden - New Album Details And Song Online

The release date for Iron Maiden's new studio album The Final Frontier is now confirmed for Monday 16th August. The new album features artwork illustrated by Melvyn Grant and, to mark the occasion, the band have made special arrangements for one new album track "El Dorado" to be made available Worldwide as a FREE digital download MP3 with immediate effect. Click here for your free download (US fans, go here).

Singer Bruce Dickinson explains: "El Dorado" is a preview of the forthcoming studio album. As we will be including it in the set of our Final Frontier World Tour (all dates here) we thought it would be great to thank all our fans and get them into The Final Frontier mood by giving them this song up front of the tour and album release."

The band reunited with long-time Maiden producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley in early 2010 at Compass Point Studios, Nassau to record the album and then moved to LA to finish the recording and do the mixing. Compass Point Studio is very familiar to the band, it was where they recorded the Piece Of Mind ('83), Powerslave ('84) and Somewhere In Time ('86) albums.

Bruce comments: "The studio had the same vibe and it was exactly as it had been in 1983, nothing had changed! Even down to the broken shutter in the corner... same carpet... everything... It was really quite spooky. But we felt very relaxed in such a familiar and well-trodden environment and I think this shows in the playing and the atmosphere of the album."

Thirty years on from their eponymous debut album in April 1980, The Final Frontier will be Maiden's 15th studio album, making a remarkable average of a new album every two years for 30 years and totalling over 80 million album sales during this period.

The Final Frontier cover art] tracklist:

01. Satellite 15... The Final Frontier
02. El Dorado
03. Mother Of Mercy
04. Coming Home
05. The Alchemist
06. Isle Of Avalon
07. Starblind
08. The Talisman
09. The Man Who Would Be King
10. When The Wild Wind Blows

Ratt - Vocalist To Undergo Surgery, European Tour Cancelled

Ratt have been forced to cancel their upcoming European tour dates. Vocalist Stephen Pearcy will be undergoing urgent hernia surgery this week. The band regrets missing the European dates on the heels of the release of their first album in eleven years, Infestation, which enjoyed a high chart debut in European territories.

Ratt shares this disappointment with all their European fans who planned to attend the shows at Sweden Rock, Sauna Open Air Festival, UK Download, Hellfest, Graspop Metal Meeting and Gods of Metal as well as their other dates. The band is looking into rescheduling as many of the shows as possible.

Pearcy's doctors anticipate a full recovery in time for Ratt's North American touring schedule, which includes a run with Scorpions, beginning in July and running through September. Ratt wishes Pearcy a speedy recovery."

The Gathering - Working On New Material

Vocalist Silje Wergeland has issued the following update on behalf of The Gathering:

"As I write this a little storm is coming in over Holland. It has been some amazing summer days here, and now it seems like Thor (or Tor as we say) is riding across the sky with his hammer smashing clouds. We are having a BBQ so fingers crossed he is off for some sleep or go for some mjød soon!

Saturday we played in Roermond for the first time. The nice people behind Rockschool Open Air put up this festival for the first time and had no one less than their major and people from the local government attending. All festivals needs some time to establish, and there are always a few hiccups here and there. This year someone - I think he has a Norse origin - were a bit too enthusiastic behind his drum kit kicking through the bass-drum skin (how metal is that!). It took some time to get a new one, so the sets of the bands later had to be cut a bit short. We had a nice time there though, and especially for me meeting up with the Bergeners of Batallion. If you have ever met anyone from Norway, you know the Viking way of drinking. There were no exceptions Saturday...

This gig was our last before the summer kicks in. The plan is now to fully focus on making a new album. We already have around 7 songs we are working on and we are all super enthusiastic about them! We are in a very creative place at the moment, ideas are flowing! We found a new place we will do preproduction of the new songs. Very cool and relaxing place. It is really fun for me this time to be part of this song making process from the beginning. A few days ago Frank and me sat down with a brand new song we ended up really happy about. Today I am off to work in the studio with René on some other new songs. I can't tell you much about the direction of the songs, but I can say it is going really well! And one more thing: the Gathering never stops surprising."

Contradiction - New Song Online

German thrashers Contradiction have posted a new song titled "Rockin' Transilvania". Check out the track on the band's MySpace. The song, which is actually a hymn, is based upon the strong fellowship between the band and the Transilvania festival organizers.

The band states: "Having played the festival in 2009 we simply had a great time with all people involved and so the band managed to gain a lot of new friends. With all those great memories in our minds we felt honoured being asked to write an exclusive festival song, so we didn't hesitate to create a "hymn" that everybody should be able to sing along."
