There best album yet. There are some real killer songs on this. Ritter der Lüfte is my favorite track on it.

I thought the debut was good but it didn't wow me nearly as much as this album has, it's much better than I expected it to be, full of raw emotion, with a great sound, and fantastic riffs. I'd say "Lviv Zu Lemberg" and "Waffenbrüder", and "Ritter Der Lüfte" are particular stand-outs for me.

I thought the debut was top level stuff, but this is even better! Fantastic riffs, blazing leads, super-powerful vocals, and machine-gun drums. Black metal with anthemic choruses, and an all-killer, no-filler album. "Lviv Zu Lemberg" is a candidate for song of the year.

Agreed. I thought the debut was very solid. I didn't quite get the resounding praise it was receiving, but I respected the fan enthusiasm. This one, though...it's ridiculously tuff. Especially the emotional drive of the instrumental performance. It's a massive enhancer.

Man, I thought 1914 were the current reigning kings of WWI metal but Kanonenfieber are quickly overtaking the throne.

It’s not per se beter than its predecessor, but it’s a very solid release that builds upon the first one. Better riff structure and more “anthemic” choruses. A very enjoyable album.

Wow awesome album, even surpasses the debut! I wasn't sure how this was going to compare to my favorite WWI-themed album Kaiserschnitt (even both refer to Verdun), but Kanonenfieber did a fantastic job here, combining both feelings of ferocity and tragedy. Definitely a contender for best black metal album of 2024

This shit is simply awesome and kinda genius. I'm a huuuuuge fan of everything related to WW1 and of course also love metal music, so it's the best of the both worlds. Not only that, but their cover art and visual style are clearly inspired by old propaganda posters and Japanese art. Like how much more cool could you possibly get? Just take my money.

Panzerfaust were robbed.
Ehhhh not really. It was a weak year for black metal but this was definitely the crown jewel. Panzerfaust is a bit too post-y anyway.

Panzerfaust were robbed.
Neither of the first two in Black metal was deserving. I found those records to be inflated on hype than an actual material in it. Some far better albums gone unnoticed like new Sacrificial Vein, Infestus Paysage etc.
I do agree with Monkey that black metal was on the lighter end of the year 2024.

This sound is so uninteresting to me. Way too polished. Good riffing and drumming, just could have a bit more bite.

I get that. I wanted to see Panzerfaust in the post-metal category instead so I could have voted for Necrowretch instead.

To me they are to BM, what Amon Amarth are (now) to DM. It's sounds really cheesy and they're gimmicky live. I hated them - left the gig after 20 minutes and rued the fact a proper band like Panzerfaust weren't given longer. Still glad I went though because Panzerfaust were THAT good.

Panzerfaust were robbed.
It's the same as with Absolute Elsewhere and Kinship. Whichever is listened by more people, wins. Panzerfaust are not everyone's cup of tea, however incredible they are.
I agree with most of what's been said in this topic - this album is kind of cheesy, gimmicky, and it is overproduced to oblivion. And Lviv zu Lemberg is just another Cry Of The Black Birds. Can't take most of the album seriously. But it is a good, high quality metal record nevertheless, and it does deserve to be among the top contenders in whatever category it's listed. It does capture many essential things that we all love and look for, and does it quite well. It is, definitely, nominations and genres aside, one of the best albums of the year.
