Circle Of Dead Children - Album Tracklist Revealed

Circle Of Dead Children have issued the following statement:

"Just a little update on the status of "Psalm Of The Grand Destroyer", the upcoming Circle of Dead Children full-length recording. Although the music was recorded in November of 2008, various circumstances effectively sidelined the progression and release since then. Thankfully this is no longer the case. All of the vocals were laid down Thursday morning by Joe, bringing about an end to a great recording session with Nate Campisi at Pittsburgh's Mr. Small's Recording and Mastering Studio. Next up will be a production mastering session by Scott Hull (of Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Japanese Torture Comedy Hour, etc) at Visceral Sound, in Bethesda, Maryland. Those familiar with the work Scott has done should be as excited as we are about hearing the final product."

A winter release via Willowtip Records is expected.

"Psalm Of The Grand Destroyer" tracklisting will look as follows:

01. Avatar Of Innocence
02. Jaracaca
03. When Human Compost Stains All Earth And Repels The Messengers Of Love
04. Chaos Crawls Back
05. Earth And Lye
06. We Who Move With The Graven Worms
07. Bury The Ill Flock
08. Refuse To Kill The Same Way Twice
09. Obsidian Flakes
10. Clawhammers And Cameltoes
11. Ursa Major (1998 Revisited)
12. Torches
13. Night Of Morbid Psycho

Portal - Complete Work On New Album

Profound Lore Records press release

Demented Australian death metal enigma Portal have completed work on their most unnerving and intense album to date. Entitled "Swarth", the new Portal album is another surreal, bizarre, and disturbing display of death metal psychosis. Like a fisting orgy hosted by Cthulhu, and ultimately, the death metal soundtrack to the end of the world.

Almost like the missing link between "Seepia" and "Outre", "Swarth" crawls and lurks through Portal's deranged use of counterpoint and dynamic yet inverted rhythmic shifts that create an unearthly suffocating and claustrophobic vibe where dissonant and meticulously constructed guitar mutations unconventionally melt and warp themselves into a feeling that conveys one of pure horror and total dread. Although this time more labyrinth and swarming-like, the visions of murk and bile that manifest from the horror that is "Swarth", paints a disturbing mind-numbing cinematic scenario of unease. Like an ancient silent art film gone terribly wrong, directed by someone who has managed to escape a Turkish prison and gone mad after many years of being subjected to torture and humiliation. Or a scenario akin to an ancient abandoned boarded up asylum where damp and rotting walls creak, leak, and have trapped the tortured ghosts of memory's past who have yet to be freed from the torment that will forever plague them. Of course the Lovecraftian presence, just like all other Portal releases, is ever apparent with "Swarth", its infectious tentacle-like character hovering like that powerful and ominous presence that has descended from the stars. A presence that we can only adhere to.

Tracklisting for "Swarth" cover art] goes as follows:

01. Swarth
02. Larvae .mp3]
03. Illoomorpheme
04. The Swayy
05. Writhen
06. Omenknow
07. Werships
08. Marityme

In other Portal related news, Profound Lore will be releasing the debut from Portal counterpart act Impetuous Ritual, featuring Portal drummer Ignis Fatuus on guitars and new Portal bass player Phathom Conspicuous. Their debut album, "Relentless Execution Of Ceremonial Excrescence" is like a mix between Incantation's "Onward To Golgotha" and Bestial Warlust's "Blood And Valour". This piece of blasphemous death metal chaos should pierce the light by year's end. Visit their myspace page HERE to hear a track off the upcoming full length.

And also Portal have been confirmed for next year's Maryland Deathfest (with other possible shows to happen Stateside) marking the band's first appearance on these shores where they will ignite the fires of chaos through their live ritual.

Redemption - New Song Online

US metallers Redemption have posted online a new song, "Black And White World", on their MySpace page.

"Black And White World" comes off the band's forthcoming album, "Snowfall On Judgment Day", which is scheduled for release on September 28 in Europe (October 6 in US/Canada) via Inside Out Music.

Nicolas van Dyk comments: "We're very excited for the release of our fourth CD. We've continued to push the envelope of our unique combination of aggression and melody and the result is our heaviest and also our most melodic CD to date. There's a healthy variety in the songwriting, ranging from very heavy tracks to more 'proggy' songs, all of which share the melodic focus and emotional urgency that make our signature sound. We've had the opportunity to play a lot more together prior to the recording of "Snowfall On Judgment Day" and I think the band is both organic sounding and tighter than ever. It's a record we're really proud of and we're glad to get it in the hands of our fans."

"Snowfall On Judgment Day" cover art] tracklist:

01. Peel
02. Walls
03. Leviathan Rising

05. Unformed
06. Keep Breathing
07. Another Day Dies

Warbringer - Former Bassist Rejoins

US metallers Warbringer have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Returning from a five-week European tour earlier this month the guys in Warbringer are enjoying their first break in schedule in quite some time due to a relentless touring and recording schedule that has seen the band release two albums and criss-cross the US, Canada and Europe nine times in 18 months.

With three weeks of respite the band has decided to replace bassist Ben Bennett with original bass player Andy Laux. Andy recorded the group's debut, "War Without End", but was unable to join his band mates for any of the touring due to him still being in high school. Now with his studies complete Andy has been focusing on sound engineering and even built his own home garage studio but will rejoin the guys for future touring and recording.

Andy had this to say, "After parting ways with Warbringer a year-and-a-half ago I never would have seen this coming but circumstances have left the band in need of someone to handle bass duties. When I was asked to fill the position how could I refuse? The members of Warbringer are my good friends and (literally) my family so the choice was obvious, I look forward to catching up with the fans, seeing some familiar faces, but most of all thrashing every venue this side of the solar system!"

Guitarist, and older brother, John Laux added, "I'm happy to have my brother back in the band and to share some of the experiences I've been able to witness firsthand. The band has decided to part with bassist Ben Bennett due to a few serious personal and offstage issues we've encountered on the road. We thank him for all his contributions to the band, the album and the touring and we all wish him the best of luck with any future endeavors."

Warbringer will be playing a couple shows in Mexico on August 28 and 29, before embarking on the Obituary, Goatwhore, Krisiun, The Berzerker tour starting on September 3rd.

Tour dates and more information at this location."

Van Canto - Sign With Napalm Records

Official press release

The Napalm Records crew is happy to announce that Van Canto has joined its ranks. The German vocal acrobats signed a worldwide deal with the Austrian label and are currently working with Charlie Bauernfeind on their new album at the Blind Guardian Studios. The full-length will hit the streets in 2010. Fans may look forward to sweeping songs clad in the unique Van Canto sound. In addition, the band's first two albums ("A Storm To Come" and "Hero") will be released at the same time as their yet untitled new work.

Since 2006 Van Canto has been the scene's breath of fresh air, as they perform all of their songs a cappella with drums being the only other instrument at play. In this manner, the band can create unique and intriguing songs such as "The Mission" or "Speed Of Light", as well as reinterpretations of classic metal songs like "Battery", "Kings Of Metal", and "Fear Of The Dark". Furthermore, Van Canto is a veteran of the stage, having performed at various live encounters, e.g., Magic Circle Festival, and Wacken Open Air, to name but a few. An ever growing fanbase is living proof that innovation and tradition do not have to negate each other, but can instead give new impulses to a somewhat stalemate scene.

Slayer - Album Tracklisting Revealed

Slayer's new album, "World Painted Blood", won't be out until October, but some folks have already heard it. Former Metal Edge editor-in-chief Phil Freeman is one of them. According to his track-by-track rundown, tracklisting of "World Painted Blood" will look like this:

01. World Painted Blood
02. Unit 731
03. Snuff
04. Beauty Through Order
05. Hate Worldwide Listen]
06. Public Display Of Dismemberment
07. Human Strain
08. Americon
09. Psychopathy Red Listen]
10. Playing With Dolls
11. Not Of This God

Freeman's final verdict reads as follows: "A lot of people say Slayer hasn't really been great since "Seasons in the Abyss". Those people are wrong. The Paul Bostaph years had a lot to recommend them ("Diabolus in Musica" is a seriously underrated album), and "Christ Illusion" showed that Slayer could experiment with dissonance and melody, and kick their own playing and songwriting up a notch when they wanted to. The band members have given a lot of interviews talking about how a lot of this album was written in the studio. Listening to it, you can't tell. That's really impressive. Much the way Metallica's "Death Magnetic" combined the thrash of their early years with the hard-rock grooves of their 1990s work, "World Painted Blood" builds on the success of every Slayer album before it. It's not a legacy-polishing effort; it's the next step in a still-ongoing journey. Highly recommended."

The complete song-by-song article of Slayer's tenth full-length album can be read here.
