Les Discrets - Recording Debut Album

Les Discrets, the project of Fursy Teyssier (Amesoeurs, Phest) and Winterhalter (Amesoeurs, Peste Noire), are currently residing at Drudenhaus studio, France, to record his debut album.

Fursy ceommented: "We finished the recording by the end of last week, and the album sounds reeeallly reallly good. Definitely something to look forward to for you! The album gathers songs that were composed spanning the last years, starting from 2003 to February 2009. This is a collection of the best songs I composed so far!

Les Discrets turned into a more "doom / progressive" metal music, with big guitar riffing, huge sound, blast beats but there is still a lot of acoustic stuff, folk and mystical atmospheres."

The release of the yet untitled album is tentatively scheduled for autumn 2009 via Prophecy Productions.

Shakra - Vocalist Is Leaving Later This Year

After the decision of vocalist Mark Fox to leave Shakra in autumn, the band is looking for a new vocalist.

The statement from the band reads as follows: "Quite recently, we were informed by Mark about his intention to leave the band by the end of October and we took note of it. Mark feels that some of the contractual agreements between the band and their business environment are too much to his disadvantage.

The remaining four band members however don't see themselves put in a disadvantage by their business partners. On the contrary, it is not least thanks to the management, booking-agency and record label's professional contribution that the success of Shakra was made possible.

All band members have been able to harvest the fruits of the hard work they've done for us in the past years. It is only natural that people around the band earn money for this too. We wish Mark all the best for his private and musical future. It is important for us to let the Shakra-fans know, that we consider our chosen path to be the right one and that we will continue to follow this way with all that lies in our power. After Mark's departure, we will continue to work together with the same business partners and keep our passion - Shakra - burning, with a new singer on our side.

Due to Mark leaving Shakra this autumn, we're looking for a new singer!"

Pestilential Shadows - Sign With Pulverised Records

Australian Black Metallers Pestilential Shadows recently inked a worldwide deal for their latest opus "In Memoriam, Ill Omen". The already-completed and released third full-length effort features some of Aussie's most prominent musicans from Naxzul, Rift, Illium, etc.

In a world filled with human-caused diseases and mindless genocides, it is no wonder why Hell Under's Pestilential Shadows chose the term "Anti-Human Plague Black Metal" to represent their brand of devastation.

Treading the exact same path with their third full-length release, "In Memoriam, Ill Omen" offers a bleak journey of sorrow-drenched riffs and a sonic production that mirrors the early 90's Black Metal sound, courtesy of guitarist / singer Balam.

Featuring present and past members from Naxzul, Rift, Illium, etc, "In Memoriam, Ill Omen" is a timeless piece of darl art that transcends all forms of mournful resentment towards human nature!

The album was recorded and mixed by Balam and mastered by D.Backovic. Stunningly beautiful old-school artwork and layout by Balam.

"In Memoriam, Ill Omen" tracklist:

01. Weapon Against The Sun
02. Beautiful Demise
03. With Serpents I Lay
04. Of Loss And Suffering Inherit
05. For Man And Heavens Ruin
06. Sundered
07. Ecclesia Moriendi (Instrumental)
08. Bathed In Ashes

Fallen Martyr - New EP Out, Songs Streaming

Official press release

Fallen Martyr's eagerly awaited EP, "The Six Roots of True Will," has been released on the band's website. Due to popular demand for their live show, the band was invited to debut songs from their EP on the main stage of what promises to be the most extreme U.S. tour of the year, the Summer Slaughter Tour. Additional tour dates on the East Coast will follow.

Inspired by the classic work of Dream Theater, Testament and Arch Enemy, the band also draws upon the progressive influence of Opeth to deliver a new sound. Lead guitarist, Gabriel, describes Fallen Martyr as a band without inhibitions, freely melting the forms of metal into artwork that cannot be replicated or replayed in less than five minutes on the stage.

"Metal is starting to sound the same now-a-days. I don't want to define a genre. I want to start my own. That's how I've always felt," Gabriel said. "It's all about challenging and pushing yourself, and in that aspect we take pride in ourselves."

As the ranks of metal bands continue to break into the mainstream today, the underground band, Fallen Martyr is rapidly shredding through a growing number of speakers cranked to capacity. After completely forming as a band of five, the songs on the EP came naturally to the band. It only took a few more live shows for fans in Baltimore's Sonar Nightclub, to vote Fallen Martyr onto the main stage of the Summer Slaughter Tour for a show.

The band's singer, Ryan, from the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, uses crushing screams and carefully timed melodic interludes to help every song naturally rise and fall. Gabriel, one of the band's founding members, duals with the second lead guitarist, Mikey, to add cascading solo assaults to every song. The music is propelled by the powerful drumming of Jake, and the band's second founding member, Doug, on the bass.

"We are all different and have certain extremes that are different than the other... but we just click and we balance each other out," Gabriel said. "We don't do something singularly... we aren't just a death metal band, we aren't just a thrash band - we aren't just one thing. We play what we like to hear and it turns out sounding like this.

"Music should be musical, and people should be able to leave a Fallen Martyr concert wanting to hear the songs again. We practice all the time, and want people to see it first hand at a show," Gabriel said.

Fear Factory - In Legal Battle Over Name

According to an interview conducted by Speed Freaks with Fear Factory members Christian Olde Wolbers (guitar) and Raymond Herrera (drums), they claim that Dino Cazares and Burt C. Bell reformed as "Fear Factory" without even communicating with them.

The part of the interview goes as follows:

Raymond: We're actually still in Fear Factory. There's a big legal battle going on right now. Essentially, what's happened is Dino and Burt have become friends again and they decided to start a new band, and furthermore, they decided to call it Fear Factory. They never communicated with us about it, and they're acting like there was never any contract, but there's four members that are Fear Factory Incorporated - which is the four of us - so it's almost like them two against us two, so it's kind of a stalemate. Moving forward, I don't know what's gonna happen with the trademark, so to speak. It's kind of a weird situation, but it's not a situation that we created that was weird.

The interview can be found at this location.

Gorefest - Call It Quits

According to a posting on the band's official website, the band discovered internet porn and are therefore calling it quits:

"OK, that's not entirely true, we knew about the porn all along. But, after two albums , both of which we're hugely proud of, and about a hundred shows, all of them memorable in their own way, the question that remained for us was: what's next? The answer can be short: nothing. "La Muerte" and "Rise To Ruin" are two albums with which we've expanded, and indeed completed our body of work to our full satisfaction. Barring one or two exceptions, all the shows we've done since we decided to reform sometime in 2004 have been tremendously enjoyable. So why quit? Pretty simple, really: Every ride comes to an end. This is ours."
