Slipknot - US Tour Dates With Trivium

Grammy-award winning hard rockers Slipknot announced today their first U.S. headline tour in support of their #1 album "All Hope Is Gone". The tour, which kicks off on January 23rd in St. Paul, MN, will hit 33 cities across the country, and include an historic stop at New York's Madison Square Garden, a first for the band. Coheed and Cambria and labelmates Trivium round out the bill.

Frontman Corey Taylor says of the trek, "2009 is the 10 year anniversary of the world's first taste of this band. To celebrate we are coming back out with a killer tour, a couple great bands and the same ferocity with which we attack life. We want all of our maggots to come and celebrate with us, because if it wasn't for you we wouldn't have been here for 10 years. Get ready for chaos!"

A special iTunes presale will start on December 3 and be open to those who took part in the band's digital album presale earlier this year. Internet presales via Ticketmaster, will commence on December 5, and the majority of dates will go on sale December 6th.

The "All Hope Is Gone World Tour" marks Slipknot's first headline run in America since the release of the album in August. The band is currently playing to sold out arenas on the other side of the globe; including stops in Russia, Japan, Australia, Europe and wrapping in the United Kingdom with three sold-out nights at London's Hammersmith Apollo.

Preceding "All Hope Is Gone"'s #1 debut, the band held the headline slot on this summer's sold-out inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, which drew the biggest crowds to a metal festival since Slipknot played Ozzfest in 2004.

To celebrate the tour, Hard Drive, hosted by Lou Brutus will be airing a Slipknot "All Hope is Gone World Tour" Special from December 3rd-6th on radio stations all across the country. The special will feature exclusive live tracks from their current tour as well as candid interviews and other surprises.

The band has also launched a new website, http://www.allhopeisgone.com to coincide with the launch of the tour. All pre-sale and onsale information will be made available there.

The dates are as follows:

01/23/09 - Xcel Energy Center - St. Paul, MN

Delain - New Album Due Next Year

February 9th will see the release of "April Rain", the eagerly awaited new album from Dutch metal band Delain. "April Rain" follows the successful 2006 debut "Lucidity", which sky-rocketed the career of the band in their home country of The Netherlands. "The new album "April Rain" is a real group effort, that's what we're most proud of" says Martijn Westerholt, keyboard player and composer for Delain.

Delain has been Westerholt's project from the start and the debut "Lucidity" was recorded with a star studded cast of musical friends. Westerholt: "The album was never meant to be played live, but the demand was strong, so we eventually got a live band together. That's the band we've recorded "April Rain" with. Compared to "Lucidity", I'd say that this album musically is more coherent and consistent because of the fact that it was recorded all the way through by the same musicians. Production wise this album has more of a metal feel to it, as opposed to the more 'poppy' production of "Lucidity". Also the songs tend to be a bit faster. Less 'doomy' than on our debut. That said, that album was never intended to be played live and when performing we all felt that these kind of songs were missing in our repertoire. We can't wait to go out and play these new songs on stage! Another big difference is that there are almost no guest appearances on this album. There's only Nightwish vocalist Marco Hietala, whom we also worked with on "Lucidity", providing guest vocals on the song "Control The Storm"."

Currently Delain is in the studio working on the final details of "April Rain", which will be mixed and mastered soon after. The rest of 2008 and early 2009 will be used to go on tour again. First up is a tour through Germany in December. Then on February 5th the album will be launched in Amsterdam at a special event at the Melkweg venue before hitting the stores on February 9th. Westerholt adds: "And after that we'll tour Europe with Kamelot and do multiple headline shows throughout Europe. I'd never intended Delain to be a real touring band? but now that we've become one, I'm definitely enjoying it to the fullest. We're looking forward to seeing our fans again real soon!"

Amoral - New Vocalist Announced

Finnish metallers Amoral have issued the following update:

"Amoral is a five-piece again! Since the announcement of Niko Kalliojärvi's leaving we've received tons of applications from singers all over the world. As we mentioned earlier, we wanted to find a guy who was not only able to handle the growling of the old songs, but who also had a strong melodic voice. Well, little did we know that we'd end up with one of the most talented vocalists around! Ari Koivunen's merits as a singer are well known (at least here in Finland), but it might surprise a lot of people that the dude can also growl with the best of them! And the fact remains that he truly was the strongest candidate from all those who applied for the job.

Being the sneaky bastards that we are, we have been writing and practising hard for a long while now while keeping low profile, and we're happy to announce that the material for the 4th Amoral album is just about ready! The recording will start next month and will go on through January. The album should be out before the summer. Of course, we'll keep you guys posted on updates.

Now, before some of you oldschool Amoral maniacs condemn us to hell: No, we're not going power metal on your asses. The trademark riffs are still there. The little quirkiness. The "fuck everybody" attitude. And most importantly, the songs are just as strong as you've come to expect from us. Stronger, actually. You could clearly see on Reptile Ride already that we were eager to push our music to a more melodic direction, and the next natural step was to go all the way with the vocals. This is a new beginning for us, and we truly believe our best work is still ahead of us."

The band adds: "Those of you who are not familiar with Ari's work yet, check out his MySpace site."

Susperia - New Album Title Revealed

Norwegian metallers Susperia have set "Speaking Killing Words" as the title of their new album, due in early 2009.

Commenting on the new material, the band recently stated: "We are continuing to work on the new album while Cyrus is away. The pre-production is almost done on approximately ten songs. Our writing sessions had a good vibe going with input from all of us. We've disciplined ourselves more this time round and we're happy with the way it's going. As we've said before, the album is going to be hard and fast with some nice touches of melody. We are currently looking at options for studios and producers, with recording expected to start soon."

Dark Funeral - MNW/No Fashion Records Dispute Over

Original Dark Funeral guitarist Lord Ahriman has posted the following update:

"Seven years of pure bullshit has finally come to an end... un-fucken- believable!

Without going into any details, (which I'm not allowed to either), what's most important here and now is that we finally have obtained the rights to our back catalogue, including the publishing rights. That includes; "The Secrets Of The Black Arts", "Vobiscum Satanas", "Teach Children To..." and "Diabolis Interium".

And from now on, NO one but Caligula (vocals, bass) and I own the rights to above mentioned albums. One may believe I/we would be totally thrilled about this, be running around in pentagrams, throwing bibles in a fire and whatnot, but I honestly feel pretty empty. Guess it'll take a while to let it all sunk in to realize that this battle finally is over, after seven f*ing years! I'm sure I'll get it all eventually... and celebrate it one way or another. But right now I feel nothing.

Anyway, somehow I feel that this is already old news, an old chapter in our dark saga. And I won't spend any more of my valuable time to ever put "their" name in my mouth again. So let us just put this behind us immediately. Let us now focus on gathering some new energy, look at the future - a future without label hassles and such utterly bullshit. It's time to set full course to complete the new album, booking new tours among many other grand things, which I know many of you are waiting for. Basically, let´s get busy again, and foremost enjoy being busy again!

PS. Please respect the fact that we won't answer any questions regarding this, already old and forgotten news. Thanx!"

Dark Funeral are currently working on new material for their upcoming 2009 studio album.

Sonata Arctica - Busy Working On New Material

Sonata Arctica keyboardist Henrik Klingenberg has posted the following European tour update:

"Tomorrow (22.11.2008) is the last show of the European tour, I think we've all been surprised about the great turnout, after all this was the second headlining tour with this album ("Unia"). Somehow these last days have gone by pretty fast and before we know it we're gonna be in Russia and then that's it... for now. I won't go into any extensive comments about the upcoming album, mainly because nobody knows how it will sound at this point, and the few songs I've heard by Tony Kakko (vocals) can't paint the whole picture. It's gonna be really interesting to work with Elias Viljanen (new guitarist) in the studio and I'm sure we'll come up with something great.

During the two months (December - January) when Tony is writing songs, I'll be playing the keyboards for Elias' new solo album, and in the spring we hopefully can play some shows in Finland. Mental Care Foundation will also do some shows, if I can find the rest of the guys... which shouldn't be impossible. What more... hmm... Silent Voices' fourth album is almost complete except for the vocals. I'll let you know more as these things unfold. I'll try to post something about Russia later."

Sonata Arctica's new album is expected to be released somewhere in the last quarter of 2009.

Mael Mórdha - Writing Update

A few weeks ago, Mael Mórdha drummer Shane Cahill issued the following statement concerning the current state of things:

"Writing of new material is ongoing and so far we are very happy, and excited about the direction we are going in. With this CD we are not willing to be rushed or to bow to anyone's needs except for our very own. We want this outing to be the very best we can make it and then some more. When we think we are finished, we will go back to the start listen to the songs and do it all over again if necessary.

So far we have 6 songs which are roughly 80% finished. We will be airing some of them at any upcoming shows to get a feel for them live. As per usual the album will follow on from the last with plenty of twist and turns as it will progress. We hope to have 10 songs on the album and artwork will once again be undertaken by Vasilis Zikos.
At the moment there is a bit of a slow down as Dave Murphy (bass) and Gerry Clince (guitar) are on session duties with fellow Irish men Primordial on their current European Tour. Meanwhile Anthony Lindsay (guitar), Rob Ó Bogail (vocals) and myself are throwing around some idea's in order to have some fresh and new ideas ready for further investigation once the lads get back. I'm sure their livers will be truly pickeled.

Keep an eye here people as we hope to have the site updated on a more regular basis. To keep you all amused in these economically depressed times Anthony should have some comics up in the near future."

Year Of Desolation - On Hiatus

John Hehman, guitarist of US Thrash metallers Year Of Desolation, have posted the following update on the band's MySpace:

"Year Of Desolation... has been around since 2001... we've had some rough spots (constant drummer issues), and some amazing spots (touring with Dying Fetus, Cephalic Carnage, Incantation etc.), this appears to be... the latter... To be honest, i don't even know where to begin, so i'll tell you what i know:

The music for almost 14 new songs have been written towards another record... whether or not it happens.... is up in the air. After we "fullfilled" OUR end of the contract with Prosthetic Records, we've been searching for a new home, and during this time, things have changed, people have gotten "real" jobs, people haven't spoken in months, and some people have just... "vanished" into thin air. All 5 of us haven't been in the same room since March of this year. Practices have been brought up numerous times, but everyones schedule is conflicting. This blog is not about airing any dirty laundry of any sort. This is a blog that we felt you, the fans, deserved.

I'm not saying Year Of Desolation is Dead, but in the current state of things, we (as a whole) are definetly MIA (missing in action), I can say that we don't want to leave you guys hanging and we'll 100% figure out something soon (one way... or another), until then, support metal and stay true to what you believe in!"

Elis - New Album Details

Elis have posted the following statement about the new upcoming album:

"We decided that the new Elis record will be named "Catharsis". We were discussing a lot about what fits best to the stories the songs on our new album tell, and we hat a lot of different options, some of them really quite funny, but when we finally came to the name "Catharsis" it was clear that this says it with one word.

Vocalist Sandra Schleret comments: "Some time ago, shortly before I joined Elis, I had to go through a very hard time, physical wise the hardest experience in my life. I was fighting against a severe disease, and while my body was struggling I felt my soul started to go it's own way. I came to new insights, and started to develop a very intense strength, like I never would have imagined I would be able to, but which was really essential for me at that time. I was taken out of the "real life" for about half a year, and felt like an onlooker, not participating in the real world. With the stories I tell on "Catharsis" I am kind of digesting this period in my life, sharing my feelings, fears and also the things I saw as an "outcast" watching the world. The word. "Catharsis" has some different meanings, but for me it represents "the healing of the soul by going through tragedy". As I see it now, to see how magic life can be I also had to experience it's dark side..."

The new album is planned for an early 2009 via Napalm Records. "Catharsis" was recorded at Mastersound Studio in Germany with producer Alex Krull (Atrocity, Leaves' Eyes) and marks the band's first full-length recording with new singer Sandra Schleret, who joined the band in December 2006.

Rammstein - New Album On The Way

Original news, posted on 07.11.2008

Rammstein have announced the following:

"Now that the band has finished pre-production in Berlin for its new album, Operation "Album 6" is going forward full steam ahead. Christoph Schneider arrived in Los Angeles last week to meet with Jacob Hellner and production team (i.e., currently Ulf Kruckenberg and Florian Ammon) to undertake preparations for recording of all the drum tracks. Also to arrive in L.A. this week for the drum sessions, Paul and Richard. Finally, a studio has been rented near San Francisco for the bulk of the main recording work, and the band will go into retreat there for several weeks starting on November 9th, 2008. Clear the decks, the Rammstein tanker is once again under steam!"

UPDATE

Rammstein have issued the following minor update via their newsletter:

"While Rammstein are recording their newest studio album in sunny California, the first snow has fallen today in Berlin. You have sent us a lot of questions since news reached you via the Rammstein website about the recordings for the new album. Many rumours have flooded the internet since then. The production of the album will take some time and a release isn't planned before autumn 2009. If everything goes according to plan, we'll hear the first single before summer 2009 and be able to greet Rammstein at the beginning of their tour before the end of the year. This tour, which is to stretch far into the year 2010, will finally give you enough of a chance to see the band live again after the long period of waiting. Above all, there are some surprises in store for our loyal fans and Community members in the 2009/2010 tour year."
