Therion - Johnsson Won't Sing Anymore
Christopher Jhonsson announced that he will quit singing in a email sent to Therion's website. He explains:
"As was announced on the Metal Mania festivals, I am going to retire from vocals. The reasons for this are two. One is that I feel it's not fun to sing anymore (even though I have enjoyed playing the old songs on guitar), the voice is getting weaker over the years and I experienced problems at the end of the US/Canada tour. The problem isn't only getting older, but rather that we basically never rehearse as a band and therefore I don't keep my throat "warm". It simply doesn't work to not sing for half a year and then go on tour for 2 months and shout every evening. It used to work when I was younger, but now I feel it's not comfortable anymore and when it doesn't feel right, it's definatly time to stop.
The second reason is that we anyway would like to stop playing old songs. By old I mean Lepaca Klifffoth and older. We are now working on our 13:th studio album and it is getting harder and harder to choose which songs to play live. The number of "classics" - songs that we more or less must play - is growing all the time and we don't want to end up like one of those bands where you know beforehand 95% for sure what songs that are going to be played. We want to be able to have space to play a couple of unexpected songs each new tour.
We of course realize that many fans will miss those brutal songs, but we are convinced that those fans also will prefer to hear something new each time from the Theli album and onwards.
Besides old songs, this will have an effect on the choice on some newer songs. For example, I'd normally sing in To Mega Therion, Invocation of Naamah, In The Desert Of Set and Typhon. I guess I in normal cases seldomly have to sing in To Mega Therion anyway - good crowds tends to do that for me!
Typhon would anyway not be on the set list on the next tour, there's so many songs we haven't played from that album. Personally I would rather do An Arrow From The Sun and the title track Lemuria next time.
As for Desert Of Set I guess we're not gonna play it and regarding Invocation Of Naamah, we might not play it or we could experiment with Mats doing some harsher type of voice on my parts, he's a pretty flexible singer as you might know by now (and he has said he don't have any principles against doing some growling type of vocals as long as it's just some few parts). So time shall tell what happens around that."

Therion - Closing down official site
Posted on official site www.megatherion.com by webmaster on 26.11.2004:
As all good things must come to an end, for some time now I have been feeling that my time with this page is almost over. Due to many personal reasons, mainly me being overworked with other, more proffitable jobs (Hey, you gotta eat, right? The Therion page isn't really an employer.), I simply don't have the time nor the initiative to do stuff on this page, after I spend 15 hours a day in front of a computer screen. So I have decided to do the only proper thing, and that is to formally quit the Megatherion Intelligence Page project. I will do so in a matter of days, as I still have a lot of unsorted mail to sort (and forward to appropriate persons) and to add quite a lot of pictures from the gigs (thanx a lot for sending them people, they are great!) to add to the photo section.
As of today, this page has no webmaster but it's looking for one! If there's a Therion fan(atic) out there who is willing to work for free for the next couple of years, 1-2 hours a day, has appropriate linux/webdesign/php/perl/mysql/whatever needed knowledge and skills, and wants to seriously take over this page into his/her care, please send your inquires to: therionsociety.NOSP@M.bredband.net. Before you freak out with "Me! Me! I wanna do it!", do have in mind that Chris may already have someone else in mind, and if he doesn't there is really a lot of work to be done. It's not a simple job, but if you're applying then you already know that. Page currently has NO user interfaces, everything has to be edited manualy directly in Mysql, etc, etc, and whoever takes the job will have to build something and brng the page out of the stone age.
Well. What's there else to say? Please don't mail me any more with the site problems/pics/interview requests, I will deal with the ones currently in queue, but no new ones. Also I'll be removing my email address from the appropriate webmaster mailto links, they are now all replaced by the therionsociety one (it's the address of the TS administration, and acts as temporary headquarters until someone is hired). If you really need to contact me, try ivo.NOSP@M.element.hr.
Bye everyone, it's been my privilege and honour to be the webmaster of this glorious band for the last seven and a half years, I wish both Therion and the regular visitors of this page (and it's forums) all the best luck in the future.

Therion announcing World Tour 2004
Hello everyone!
As you can see in the tour section, we're now in the process of the scheduling of the next world tour. At the moment only the Latin American shows are booked and have a date. This part of the world is the only one were we will tour as a headline act though. We are at this moment looking what options there are for us to go together with other bands in Europe and USA/Canada. In Europe we could tour headline like the last two times, but we feel like we want to get on to something bigger. It's great to play only in front of our own fans, but it is also cool to have a bit of a challange and play in front of crowds that only partly consist of people that know our albums. We're looking for some cool band that plays music we like and a band that we respect. At the moment we have a suggestion that I perticulary like and hope is going to happen. If we can get that to happen it would be a total killer package for you guys in Europe - I'll be telling you as soon as we know (if it happens and then of course with which band it is, it's still a secret).
In USA/Canada will still have some way to go before it would be a successful idea to play headline, so as this will be our first time over there we simply have to do the same work, as we once did in Europe many years ago and open up for other bigger bands. This is something we look forward a lot to though. Therion is a band that never had anything for free and the success we have always tastes better if we know that we have earned it by hard work and that we are a band that really deserves it.
We also have a new drummer that's gonna do the touring with us. His name is Petter and he's a pretty unknown talent (except for those well initiated in the Stockholm music life) that used to play in a band called Master Massive. We'll give you more news on this topic as time goes by.

Therion: 2 new albums!
The new Therion albums are called Sirius B and Lemuria and will be released the 24th of May, 2004. They will be relesed as two separate albums, but during a period of two months, there will be a double release available, so that people can get them both for more or less half the price. This release will be pressed as much as people buy it during these two months and after that what ever left in stores and distribution channels can continue to sell as long as it lasts. You can consider this special offers as a present from Therion to the fans.
