Alternative/nu metal legends Mudvayne - who were reformed last year after more than a decade out of the spotlight - haven't released a full-length studio album since their 2009 self-titled fifth album. But the band is just about to change that, as frontman Chad Gray stated in a recent interview with Avenged Sevenfold bassist Johnny Christ via his 'Drinks With Johnny' podcast that he hopes Mudvayne will start working on new music very soon.

Gabe Serbian, a longtime drummer (in early years guitarist) of the American hardcore/grindcore outfit The Locust, has passed away. Serbian was also a founding member of deathgrind unity Cattle Decapitation and part of the band between 1996 and 2001. He also did play drums in Zu and delivered vocals in Dead Cross.

Godsmack frontman Sully Erna stated in a recent interview with 101.1 WJRR radio that the band may not release any more studio albums beyond the upcoming follow-up to their 2018 album When Legends Rise, which is expected to be released in 2023. In a recent interview on the Full Metal Jackie radio show, Testament frontman Chuck Billy offered an update on two projects that he is planning to release later this year or next year. One is the upcoming Testament album, which will be, not only their first since 2020's Titans Of Creation, but the first to feature the recently-returning drummer Dave Lombardo since 1999's The Gathering. His other project is his debut solo album, which he announced last year and its direction will be slightly different from the traditional thrash metal sound of Testament.
