Kataklysm - New Song Online

A brand new track "The Chains Of Power," from Kataklysm's upcoming record "Prevail" has been posted on the bands new and improved MySpace Page.

Kataklysm vocalist Maurizio Iacono and the band explain the meaning of "The Chains Of Power": "The meaning behind the track "The Chains Of Power" is essential. It's a song the band wrote to give gratitude and strength to all the courageous soldiers who fight for our freedom. It doesn't matter if you are for or against certain wars, nor the bullshit politics that are associated with these topics.

This track is about the people in the world that decide to take a chance with their lives in order to preserve our way of living. While we drink, rock out at concerts and take our daily lives for granted, some soldier is out there in the middle of a Warfield dodging bullets and bombs. This commitment and sacrifice has to be acknowledged, it's our tribute to them and our soundtrack to give them courage. Prevail is a vast album with different faces and this is just a sample of the hammering to come...enjoy!"

"The Chains Of Power" comes from the upcoming release "Prevail", which was mixed at AudioHammer Studios in Orlando, Florida with producer Jason Suecof. The CD, which is scheduled for release via Nuclear Blast Records on May 23 (Europe) and May 27 (North America), features guest solo appearances by Pat O'Brien (Cannibal Corpse), Dave Linsk (Overkill) and producer and guitar shredder Jason Suecof himself.

Prevail will ALSO include a BONUS DVD with a full performance recorded from a live internet concert stream at DeepRockDrive studios in Las Vegas, NV on December 3, 2007.

Bonus DVD track listing:

01 Like Angels Weeping The Dark
02 As I Slither
03 In Shadows & Dust
04 Crippled and Broken
05 The Ambassador of Pain
06 Let Them Burn
07 Manipulator of Souls
08 The Resurrected
09 Face The Face of War
10 Where The Enemy Sleeps
11 The Road To Devastation

Shining - Part Ways With Drummer

Swedish Suicidal/Manipulative Black Metal throne-dwellers Shining made the following entry on their MySpace Blog:

"Due to Jarle Bybergs current situation we have decided that we cannot go ahead with merely him in our ranks. This has nothing to do with him leaving Urgehal last week or anything like that, but he simply hasn't got time enough to tour as much as we do, nor spending month after month in the studio. Therefore, we have now decided to let Schill who accompanied us on the 'Thank God For Niklas Kvarforth' tour last year become a permanent member of Shining.
Welcome my little precious... / Kvarforth, on behalf of Shining."

Shining's sixth studio album will be entitled "Tillbaka På Ruta Ett" (Back to Square One) and is set for a late 2008 release through Osmose Productions.

Deranged - Disband After 17 Years

Vocalist Martin Schönherr of Swedish Death metal band Deranged has posted the following news:

"Sad news? A couple of weeks ago Rikard Wermén (drums) decided to leave the band. He's been handling all of the bands correspondence (as well as any other matters concerning the band) the last 15 years and told us that he basically was fed up didn't wanted to do that any longer and therefore decided to leave the band. He's been doing a really great work and has always managed to squeeze in time to handle the bands business. He also said numerous times that he will stay and do whatever shows that was booked but wouldn't handle any correspondence and the likes, and even said if we managed to get a tour later this year, he would stay for that as well in case we hadn't managed to get a new drummer. Fair enough and we thank him eternally for that? Now, Johan Axelsson (guitar) said that he didn't wanted to do the booked shows and wanted to split the band up (coz of reasons unknown) which leaves me and Tomas Ahlgren (bass) no other choice then hereby say that we can't play the following festivals, therefor Deranged are from now on split up."

Cancelled performances:

Fuck The Commerce (Germany) - May 1
Hardtaste Open Air Fest. / Hassleben (Germany) - May 2
Maryland Death Fest. (US) - May 23-25
Death Fest Open Air (Germany) - June 12-14

Absu - New Guitarist/Keyboardist And New Album Details Announced

The following was posted on Absu's Myspace page:

"Texas-based mythological occult metal outfit Absu has announced the addition of guitarist/keyboardist Zawicizuz (ex-Rape, Pillage & Burn/Infernal Oak) to the group's ranks. He replaces Vastator who recently quit the band due to musical and personal differences. Drummer/vocalist Proscriptor says of the replacement, "We are very proud to welcome Zawicizuz as the newest musician of Absu! He is one of the best-kept secrets in the extreme Texas music environment and we are delighted to convey our next chapter of mythological occult metal with him."

Absu will enter Nomad Recording Studio in April 2008 to begin recording the self-titled CD for a tentative autumn release on Candlelight Records. The album will be engineered/produced by none other than Sterling Winfield (King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Solitude Aeternus, Usurper, Blood Of The Sun, Etc.) and mastered by Proscriptor at his studio Tarot Productions.

"Absu" projected track listing: (in no particular order)

13 Globes
In The Name of Auebothiabathabaithobeuee
Between the Absu of Eridu & Erech
Night Fire Canonization
Those of the Void Will Re-Enter
Nunbarshegunu
Girra's Temple
Magick Square Cipher
Ye Uttuku Spells
Amy
?Of the Dead Who Never Rest In Their Tombs Are the Attendance Of Familiar Spirits?
(Including:)
a.) Diversified Signs Inscribed
b.) Voor
c.) Sceptre Command
d.) Twix Yesterday, the Day & the Morrow
e.) Our Earth of Black

Proscriptor adds: "Lyrically, I am concentrating more on Sumerian-based occult themes of magick and mythology versus the Celtic aspect of my previous writings, which was heavily expressed on the last few Absu studio albums. Musically speaking, the material will be quite similar to "Tara", but with more of a '70s progressive/ psychedelic texture within it. You will not be disappointed ? trust me. I will be utilizing the first logo created by Equitant and Belgian artist Kris Verwimp will handle the cover illustration once again. In other news, I am also pleased to announce the following guest musicians that will appear on the album: Ashmedi (Melechesh), Jex Thoth (Jex Thoth/ex-Totem), Mindwalker (The Firstborn), Nornagest (Enthroned), Sataniac (Desaster), Vorskaath (Zemial)."
