Yakuza - Frontman To Release Solo Album

Details on the upcoming solo album from Bruce Lamont are beginning to ooze forth as the album nears release. The first solo album from the Yakuza frontman will be released worldwide via the brutally eclectic At A Loss Recordings on Tuesday, January 25th, 2011.

"I began working on solo material in early 2006," states Lamont, on the inspiration behind the album. "I wanted to delve further into creating music without limits or boundaries, devoid of predicable twists and turns which is simply a reflection of personality, while challenging my own mind and beliefs."

Entitled Feral Songs For The Epic Decline, the diverse album bears seven tracks Lamont himself envisioned and created utilizing an arsenal of instruments including reeds, saxophones, guitars, moog synths, contact mics, percussion and more, as well as incorporating a multitude of vocal styles, looping tones and creating post-doom/metal elements infiltrated with everything from grating noise to cerebral soundscapes.

"I enjoy melody." he continues. "Not in a formulaic sense though. I have more of a desire to move beyond melody, syncopated rhythms, creating moods and textures, pushing voice and instruments into an unconventional realm, allowing my subconscious to dictate the flow of ideas, living and reveling in the moment."

Four tracks from Feral Songs For The Epic Decline were recorded with the infamous Sanford Parker in 2007, and the other three tracks recorded in May of this year, again with Parker, culminating four years of heavy writing and dedication from Lamont, while juggling countless other musical ventures he's invested his life to. The cover artwork and layout for the massive project has been commissioned to the visionary Seldon Hunt (Nachtmystium, Sunn O))), Isis, etc.), and will be posted shortly.

Most widely recognized for his saxophone and vocal work fronting Chicago mindwarp metallers Yakuza, Bruce Lamont has also contributed to a plethora of other projects including Bloodiest (featuring members of 90 Day Men, Sterling), Circle of Animals (with Sanford Parker, Minsk/The High Confessions), Sick Gazelle (with Eric Block and Sanford Parker) and even Led Zeppelin II, a nationally touring mainstream Led Zep cover act in which Lamont immaculately plays the part of Robert Plant! He's also recorded with Sigh, East West Blast Test, Minsk, Nachtmystium, Rabid Rabbit, Brutal Truth, Cephalic Carnage, Sweet Cobra, Locrian, Hex Machine and more.

North American and European live actions from Bruce Lamont will be announced shortly and will continue to be booked throughout 2011. Promos of Feral Songs For The Epic Decline will be available shortly.

Triptykon - North American Headlining Tour With 1349, Yakuza

Decibel Magazine and Stereogum/Haunting The Chapel have teamed up to present the Weltenbrand Tour 2010, featuring the North American debut of Triptykon. 1349 and Yakuza will round out the bill on what is sure to be this fall's heaviest tour.

Vocalist/guitarist Tom Gabriel Warrior describes his emotions of anticipation on this new undertaking as follows: "Ever since my earliest days in Hellhammer and Celtic Frost, I have been extremely fortunate to be able to count on the support, fanaticism, and immense loyalty of the North American metal scene. The recognition my work has received there eclipses anything I have ever encountered in my own native country. Of the 125 concerts performed on the final Celtic Frost tour in 2006 and 2007, for example, a full 71 were played in North America. Some of these performances rank among the most memorable ones in my entire career.

It is thus an immense honor for me to now bring my new group Triptykon to North America for the first time. Triptykon is further pursuing the path I once began with Hellhammer and Celtic Frost, and I am looking forward to continuing to forge this darkest of musical alliances with all of you. We shall all celebrate masses of unleashed heaviness and morbidity. Only death is real!"

The band's debut Eparistera Daimones was released back in March.

Locrian - New Album To Feature Yakuza, Nachtmystium Guest Appearances

Locrian have completed their new collaborative studio album, entitled Territories. The album was recorded in January 2009 at Phantom Manor Studios in Chicago, IL and features numerous collaborators including Andrew Scherer (Velnias), Mark Solotroff (Bloodyminded), Bruce Lamont (Yakuza), and Blake Judd (Nachtmystium). The album will also be a collaboration between four labels from three countries: At War With False Noise (UK), Basses Frequences (France), Bloodlust! (USA), and Small Doses (USA). Territories is Locrian's second studio album and is slated for a March 1st release.

Territories cover art] tracklist:

01. Inverted Ruins
02. Between Barrows
03. Procession of Ancestral Brutalism
04. Ring Road
05. Antediluvian Territory
06. The Columnless Arcade

A press release reads as follows: André Foisy and Terence Hannum have spent the last several years honing the Locrian sound. They've taken elements from noise, power electronics, drone, and black metal to come up with a truly unique sound reflecting the sprawling urban decay surrounding them in Chicago. After nearly two dozen releases, they've found themselves in the world of Territories. For this release, Locrian has pulled out all the stops and fleshed out the band with the help of Mark Solotroff (Bloodyminded, Anatomy Of Habit) on vocals and synthesizers, Blake Judd (Nachtmystium) on guitar, Bruce Lamont (Yakuza) on saxophone and vocals, and Andrew Scherer (Velnias) on drums. The results of this massive collaborative effort are apparent from the moment the album starts. The textures run darker and deeper; the vocals - sometimes three layers deep - seem to be conjured from the decrepit muck of a failed civilization; the feedback takes on a more pronounced presence; and the big band allows for full-on black metal assaults that burst out of the tortured drones Locrian have come to be known for. Truly a case of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts, Territories may well be the most fully realized form of Locrian's dystopic vision.
