Voivod - New Video Online

The new Voivod video for the track 'The Getaway' is available online here. The song is pulled off of the band's latest album, "Katorz", out now in North America via The End Records and in Europe through Nuclear Blast.

The footage was pulled from the 2003 American tours and the 2006 recording sessions of "Katorz" (The End Records). Voivod are working on a video for 'Polaroids' with Banger Productions (Metal: A Headbangers Journey) and then we will follow that up with a video for 'The X-Stream'.

In a recent update, drummer Michel "Away" Langevin. said that that Voivod are "hard at work on the reissues (due out on The End Records next year). We will start with the Sanctuary ones (Rrroooaaarrr, Dimension Hatross and Killing Technology). Each album will be remastered and will come with a bonus Iron Gang DVD. The pre-production for the follow-up to Katorz will start this winter. Also, we are still trying to coordinate a tribute show for 2007."

Cinderella - Bassist Suffers Mild Heart Attack

Inga Brittingham, singer of Naked Beggars and wife of Glam Metal band Cinderella/Naked Beggars bassist Eric Brittingham, has issued the following update:

"It's been a rough week. I wanted to finally share what we have been through. Eric suffered a mild heart attack last week. We are slowly getting through this period. Even through all of this healing time the rest of the band is continuing to write for the third album."

Naked Beggars' upcoming CD will be the group's first since the addition of drummer Lisa Rav, who is described in a press release as "the best rock drummer rock has seen in a long time. . . Lisa brings tremendous talent and new possibilities to the band. In addition to her drumming skills and experience, she is an accomplished vocalist. She is a hard-hitting, visual performer who we feel is a perfect fit for us."

As a result of the situation Naked Beggars were forced to cancel their New Year's Eve show.

Amorphis - New Album In 2007

Amorphis check in with the following band news from guitarist Esa Holopainen:

"Dear all,

It's been a really hectic year in the Amorphis camp and at the same time one of the best ones in our career. We released Eclipse, the first album with Mr. Joutsen on vocals, in spring and all the response from album and shows has been great. We really find the mood which I honestly thought that we lost years back. Big thanks to Tomi and his inspiration to all of us. With Eclipse we opened new era in our career, and yes, we are still together with this lineup (Amorphis mark 7 or something...)

Anyway, to brief you a bit; we are currently composing new material for the next Amorphis album. No title or release date has been issued yet, but we'll enter the Sonic Pump Studios again at the beginning of January, 2007 with the same team as on the last session. Mr. Karmila will be mixing the tracks sometime in late February at Finnvox Studio. We'll keep you updated, and meanwhile, check our tou rdates; we are going to do shows whenever possible during making our new "kid" come alive.

Thrashmosh.
Esa."

Norwegian black metallers Mayhem have finished recording their new album, "Ordo Ad Chao".

Guitarist Blasphemer (aka Rune Erickson) comments: "The sound is raw and powerful, and listening to it, it reminds me of the Wolf's Lair Abyss era, only more varied and more philosophical. Altaria - Part Ways With Vocalist

Finnish melodic metallers Altaria have parted ways with vocalist Taage.

"It has become clear during this year that Taage and the other members of Altaria had different priorities," drummer Tony Smedjebacka says in a a statement posted on the band's web site. "When we wanted Taage to invest more time for Altaria, he decided to quit. The band and Taage had different perspective on few other things, too, which might have been part of the reason he decided to leave the band."

Altaria is currently auditioning singers and writing songs for its fourth, as-yet-untitled album, tentatively due in the fall of 2007. The new singer will be announced early next year.

Altaria recently posted its video for the song "Frozen Hearts" at YouTube.com. The clip features footage from the band's European tour with Sonata Arctica and Doro. "Frozen Hearts" comes off Altaria's third album, "The Fallen Empire", which was released this past March.

Pelican - Enter The Studio

Pelican will enter the studio next week to record a new full-length. Tracking will take place at Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago, IL with engineer Andrew Schneider (Cave In) at the helm. The effort will consist of roughly ten tracks, including "City of Echoes," "Blissin Concrete," "Dead Between the Walls," and "Spaceship Broken - Parts Needed."

Regarding the new material, the band states: "On a whole the songs are more concise and more aggressivebthan our prior work. Relentless repetition has taken a backseat to intensity and a desire to pack as many riffs as possible into each tune."

The album is tentatively slated for a May 2007 release via Hydra Head Records.
