Nominon - Working On New Material

Swedish death metallers Nominon have issued the following update:

"Writing this note to let you all know wtf that is going on in the Nominon clan. For now we're more or less only concentrate to write new riffs and stuff for the fourth album that we do plan to record sometime during 2009. We have a few songs already written, but still there is a bit of arranging to take care of since we do want to release the best and most grotesque shit ever and not any half-hearted weak pussy Metal that so many other bands do.

We are also (as usual) negotiating about doing some touring next year, and for now it looks as we'll probably be doing a headline European trip for two weeks in May. There's also a few openings for Nominon to tour The States again, so who knows, we might be doing a triumphant return over there during 2009. Would be fucking awesome, so we could brutalize the west coast this time around as well. See you in the pit motherfuckers, and be prepared because we'll be heading your way sooner or later!"

Vision Divine - Sign With Frontiers Records, New Album Details

Frontiers Records press release

Frontiers Records is excited to announce the signing for a multi album deal of the mighty Vision Divine, Italy's Melodic Metal Finest. The new cooperation will bring the first fruits with the release of the band's brand new studio album "9 Degrees West Of The Moon" on January 23rd 2009.

Born as a side project of the esteemed guitarist and songwriter of Labyrinth, Olaf Thorsen, to keep his working relationship with Fabio Lione (former Labyrinth vocalist who had moved on to Rhapsody Of Fire) Vision Divine evolved during the years in a real band who released 5 acclaimed studio albums, one DVD and toured several times in Japan, South and North America and played in several European countries.

The new album is particularly important in the history of the band as it marks the return of Fabio Lione on lead vocals, after Thorsen's decision to say goodbye to Michele Luppi in June 2008. "Fabio's return is like going back to square one for us", comments the band's creative mastermind Olaf "However Vision Divine is a band that did always move forward and I think that with his voice and interpretation he has enriched the songs and gave them a very peculiar and personal edge. I am truly enthusiast of his return in the band and look forward to bring this record out there with his amazing vocal abilities". Vision Divine line-up is completed by Alessio Lucatti on keyboards, Cristiano Bertocchi (ex-Labyrinth) on bass, Federico Puleri on guitar and Alessandro Bissa on drums.

Produced by none other than the former Stratovarius mainman Timo Tolkki, Vision Divine created what is easily their most mature and intense record to date. Entitled "9 Degrees West Of The Moon", this is Vision Divine 's heaviest, but yet most melodic and catchy album ever, showing why they are now the number 1 band in the Italian Metal scene. "Melodies are the most important element of our music. However our songwriting is very diverse" explains Olaf, who adds "all the songs have very different atmospheres and can go from melodic songs like "Violet Loneliness" to very aggressive and heavy ones. I think there is something for everyone on this record".

Vision Divine are also working hard on putting up a new World Tour which will bring the band to play again in Asia, South America and possibly Europe outside their homeland Italy. "9 Degrees West Of The Moon" is a fantastic journey that fans will consider as the true Vision Divine career defining statement!"

Orange Goblin will enter a recording studio in London at the end of May 2009 to record what will be their 7th studio album and first for new label Candlelight. Production on this one will be handled by Sanford Parker who has recently produced albums by the likes of Nachtmystium, Lair Of The Minotaur, Pelican, Rwake, Unearthly Trance, Venemous Concept, Minsk, Buried At Sea, and more.

Darkthrone - Working On New Material Again

Darkthrone's Ted "Nocturno Culto" Skjellum has issued the following update:

"Winter is most definitly full-on here now, and I'm enjoying the feeling of isolation as best as I can. Great! That out of the way, I will first thank Fenriz for doing a great job on the Darkthrone Official MySpace, du brenner for saken, bokstavelig talt! And to all of you who send me words through this site. Winter means a bit more activety indoors for me, so I'll give it my best shot to maintain this cyber-cage.

"Dark Thrones And Black Flags" is, well, history for me now, since the planning and songwriting for a new album is well under way. We enjoyed recording it and looking forward to the 13th of December when we pull the trigger for a new album. There are small details this time around that will most likely result in a slight different sound and "feeling". Seems pointless to mention such stuff here, but I can assure you that both Fenriz and me looking forward to this. The first session of a new record is always exciting+ since it do set some fundamental standards... at least in our heads... well, at least in MY head then. Working the way we do now is such a blizz it's hard to describe."

Profugus Mortis - Change Name To Blackguard, Part Of PaganFest USA Part II

The Canadian metal band formerly known as Profugus Mortis have issued the following update regarding the band's name change to Blackguard:

"Yes it's true, we have in fact changed our name to Blackguard. One of the main reasons for this change was to avoid possible legal action against us. Our new European label (soon to be announced ) informed us of this and asked if we'd be willing to change names which we obviously said yes to. This was not an easy decision, but it was a necessary one to avoid possible future complications. I hope you all understand.

This is the end of an era for us, but it is also a new beginning. With this change comes new labels (TBA) new management and of course... new tours. See you all at Pagan Fest 2!!"

As announced on Pagan Fest USA:

Brimming with the highly-successful and recent run (and introduction) of PaganFest USA earlier this year, the tour everyone has anxiously been waiting for with high demand will be storming the stages of venues across North America once again!

For the fans who have been eagerly counting down the days for the return of this run, PaganFest USA proudly brings you PART 2 of this incredible saga with the presentation of Ireland's Primordial, Switzerland's Eluveitie, Finland's Moonsorrow, and Canada's Blackguard (formerly known as Profugus Mortis) to the horizon for mid 2009!

Hatesphere - Sign With Napalm Records

Napalm Records press release

"Hatesphere has signed to Napalm Records. The Danish band has been releasing their deadly mix of Death and Thrash Metal for almost ten years. Band leader Pepe Hansen promises the upcoming will stay true to the HateSphere's attitude: "No compromise and no experiments!" Metal fans should fasten their seatbelt and prepare for an all crushing package. A new album is tentatively scheduled for spring 2009."

Guitarist Peter "Pepe" Lyse Hansen comments: "It is with great pleasure that HateSphere announce our cooperation with Napalm Records. The last year has been really hectic for us. Not in a bad sense, but we have been working hard on both new material, playing shows and changing the line-up. The great changes the band has been going through have meant that we needed a record label that would support us 100%. Napalm is not only very professional, they also have a great varied roster, and they have shown to be willing to support HateSphere in the way that we want. Our new album has been just completed, and no need to say that we really can't wait to get started with our work with Napalm. Early next year the album will be out, and Napalm Records and HateSphere are on their way. See you out there - stronger than ever!"

Six Feet Under - New Video Online

MTV's Headbangers Blog reports the following:

"On Halloween, Florida Death Metal veterans Six Feet Under weren't wearing black ski masks and smashing windows of all the old folks in their neighbourhood. They were onstage tearing through old favourites and treating fans to some songs from their new album "Death Rituals". During the show, they shot a new video for the song "Seed Of Filth".

"This is one of our favorite songs from the album, one we are just really stoked on," says frontman Chris Barnes. "Once again, we worked with director Mario D. Framingheddu, who has directed our videos for "Ghosts of the Undead" and "Doomsday". We're really proud of this video and how it came out."

The videoclip just premiered yesterday (November 20) on MTV's Headbangers Blog. Click here to check out "Seed Of Filth"."

Obituary have issued the following update:

"We did not play a show in Tampa, or in Florida for that matter, on our last U.S. Tour, but we have one set up now! We will be playing at the Crowbar in Ybor City on Friday, December 19th! We really had a great show the last time we played there and we are looking forward to doing another one!

I apologize for the website not getting updated since we got home from Japan, but I just did not get around to it and not much has been going on! We have just been locked in the studio and working on a new Obituary album and finishing up the Tardy Brothers Project. Both are coming along great! I will keep you updated with both of these as we get further along.

We have some give-aways planned for this Tampa show and as always we will be around for autographs! I hope to see you all out at the Crowbar on the 19th!"

Vader - New Album Due Out Next Year

Vader frontman Peter Wiwczarek has posted a detailed band update on the official Vader website. You can read the whole message here.

"We open a new chapter in Vader's history in December: "Necropolis"! In Hertz Studios we're gonna record a 4-5 song demo for the upcoming new full length. This is nothing but checking out new sounds and different way of work in studio. It's not gonna be official, thou' we'll put a song on our site for you to listen to. The ultimate recordings are booked for March 2009 and "Necropolis" will be produced by Tue Madsen (who previously worked with such bands as Moonspell, Hatesphere, The Haunted, Gorefest, Heaven Shall Burn and many more) in Anfarm Studio in Denmark. The title of the album - which is the very first Vader song ever - is chosen not by chance. It will be connected with recordings like "De Profundis" or "Litany" with themes of Forgotten Worlds, Mythos or Ancient Powers still living in humans sub consciousness. Just mentioned few titles: "Devour", "Dark Heart" or "Forgotten" (all written by Harry Maat). Pawel Frelik - the Voice of Truth in the band - is also gonna put some lines on the album. We'd like to change "Necropolis" designs as well making the "overall view" in old style of Metal. Of course, I'll keep informing you about the progress. As I promised..."
