Katatonia - Czech Republic Date Cancelled

Swedish metallers Katatonia have issued the following update:

"The promoter Shindy Productions has cancelled Katatonia's appearance for the upcoming Czech/Prague gig on December 15th according to their official explaination, that reads as follows:

'The problem is that we have beed forced to move the show to the smaller venue due to some problems with the original venue. As far as the new venue has restricted capacity we could not provide the show for all the bands we originally planned to."

As we've failed to find a replacement for this date, no show in Czech Republic will take place at this time, but maybe in mid-2007. The announced gigs in Hungary and Serbia are not affected by this and will go on as planned."

Into Eternity - Announce New Members

Canadian progressive death outfit Into Eternity has officially announced the addition of new members Steve Bolognese (ex-Beyond The Embrace) on drums and Justin Bender on guitars.
Tim Roth (guitars, vocals) states: "We are really excited to announce Steve and Justin as permanent members. Both will be hitting the road with us in January. They figured all the music out by ear, so I didn't have to teach them anything. That just blew me away. Steve can do rapid-fire double-bass at 240 beats per minute, so the drumming on the new album won't be a problem for him. Look for us on the road in the U.S. this spring. See you soon."

Thunderstone - Upcoming Album Details

Thunderstone have issued the following update on their forthcoming album:

Thunderstone's upcoming fourth studio effort is confirmed to be released worldwide (except USA) on March 14th, 2007 and later in the spring in the USA. The album bears the title "Evolution 4.0".
Band members characterize the forthcoming album as 'a milestone, bringing in more of the heavier stuff that "Tools Of Destruction" already hinted at, but still retaining the landmark melodies of Thunderstone. That's why we thought the title "Evolution 4.0" best represents where we now stand.
Some song titles include 'Roots Of Anger', '10 000 Ways', 'Swirled', 'Down With Me' and 'The Source'.

Dog Fashion Disco - Decide To Call It Quits

Baltimore based experimental metallers Dog Fashion Disco have posted the following update:

After much thought and consideration Dog Fashion Disco has decided to call it quits. Their last and final show will be 1-13-07 at Club Sonar located on 407 E Saratoga St. in Baltimore, MD. They want to thank you; all of their dedicated fans for enabling them to make a life and career out of the music of Dog Fashion Disco. This is something that not many people get to enjoy and do. It was a hard decision but after 10 years on CONSTANT dedication and touring it is time to pursue other interests.

Here is a statement from Todd Smith, lead singer of Dog Fashion Disco:

Well after all these years Dog Fashion Disco are calling it quits. Actually I wouldn't say quit but we are ending the band although Dog Fashion Disco's music for me, will live on forever. I started this band over ten years ago and it was my decision to end it. I always told myself if it stopped being worth the effort I would gracefully bow out and that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm not going to get into details exactly why everything is ending because it really doesn't matter. I am so proud of Adultery and I think it defines us as musicians and is an awesome way for people to remember us. I think Adultery will be discovered by many generations to come and will find its place as a cult record people will listen to and talk about for many years. We will be playing our last show on Jan. 13th 2007 at Sonar in Baltimore. I encourage everyone from far and wide to come out for this going away party. We will be playing a super long set and it will be a nice way for us to say our goodbyes face to face. Jeff Siegel will be playing keyboards and it will be a real cool get together for friends and fans. I feel very fortunate to have met everyone who has been a fan of this band for so many years. It's been so cool meeting everyone around the country and becoming fast friends and knowing they'd be there when we came to town. The experiences I've had I wouldn't trade for anything. How many people can say they've hurled their own shit at 800 juggalo's? or how many people have ever had to go the hospital after visiting a Chinese massage parlor in Rockford Illinois? I even got the opportunity to share the stage with those douche bags in WASP and then after our set pelt them with our veggie tray from our dressing room. I know we are personally responsible for MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE now being prohibited to drink booze before there shows. Lets just say when we toured with them we weren't exactly knitting quilts backstage. I remember a certain gross out contest in Wisconsin where Steve from MSI and Ollie from DFD were eating each others vomit by the end of the night. It's been a lot of fun to say the least. Jasan and Wendy have moved on to create another band Phantom Communique. I have heard the stuff they are doing in the studio and it's fucking killer. I have a feeling those guys will take that band very far. John Ensminger and I will be recording a demo to shop in February and that will determine if he and I venture into another band. Well everyone in the band is going to list those they would personally like to thank. I would personally like to thank Derek Brewer, Jeff Cohen, Steve Seabury, Steve Wright and Mike Macaree and Drew Lamonde at Wrightway Studios, Drew Mazurek, James Wright, Shane Tuttle, Carlos and Lillian Batts, Ron at Rotten Records, Wookubus at the PRP, SMNnews, Metal Edge, Sam and Paul Schreider, Dee, Ilyse, Cait, Lauren, Chris Frampton, Jason Popson, Cory Cudney, Matt Rippetoe, Justin, Bonnie and Chase Lapp, Jason at Xact Records, and Justin McConnell. I would also like to send out a special thank you to Mike Smolen. Where ever you are, you will never be forgotten. Thanks for spreading the word on DFD. Goodnight and goodbye my friend.

Into Eternity - New Video Online

The new video from Canadian Progressive Death Metal outfit Into Eternity has been put online on YouTube here.
The group's video for the track 'Severe Emotional Distress', from the band's latest album "The Scattering Of Ashes", was shot by up-and-coming director Kevin Wildt (Set Your Goals, The Warriors).

Tim Roth (guitars, vocals) checks in with the following report: "It's a full-blown blizzard here in our hometown, so we have been chilling out indoors. We plan on hitting the road on Jan. 13th for a Western Canadian tour, which will lead to an appearance at the Seattle Metal Fest on Jan. 20th. Hopefully, we'll see everyone out on the road soon!

The band is ecstatic about our new video, 'Severe Emotional Distress,' which is our first true promotional video. I think it turned out really well. Kevin did a great job producing the video. The storyline goes perfect with the aggressiveness of the song and the meaning behind the lyrics. Hopefully the video will open up new people to our band. Enjoy, and look for us on the road in the U.S. this spring. See you soon."

In Flames - Announce Second Live Session Guitarist

Swedish Melo-Death powerhouse In Flames have announced their touring line up containing a second session guitarist for their upcoming headlining North American tour with Lacuna Coil, The Sword and Seemless. The band has posted the following message on their official website:

"For the upcoming US-tour Björn will be sitting out as his wife is due to give birth to their second child. Substituting on guitar will be our good friend Henrik Danhage from Evergrey.
As previously reported: Jesper is taking the rest of the year off due to personal reasons, on which he will comment later on, and Niklas Engelin (Engel/Passenger) is filling in for him until Dec 20:th.
We´ve all heard the speculations and rumours and we want to put a stop to it here and now: NO, In Flames are not breaking up! NO, Jesper or Björn are NOT quitting the band!
We simply didn´t want to disappoint anyone so all shows that were booked prior to these circumstances will be done with the above named session guitarists. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that you will understand and support us.
New shows/tours are being booked for next year as we speak, featuring the 5 of us (Anders, Björn, Peter, Daniel & Jesper).
So stop worrying/speculating/gossiping and we´ll see you all very soon.

Cheers
Anders, Björn, Peter, Daniel & Jesper"

(Thanks to AmRo for noticing this in the forum)

Mortiis - Working On New Album

Mortiis has been busy writing and recording new material for a new album, to be released 2007.

"The music so far is pretty varied," said frontman and band namesake Mortiis. "There´s a bunch of really heavy stuff in there, probably the hardest stuff we´ve done so far, really guitar driven shit. Then there´s some really ambient sounding stuff, very drone-y and atmospheric, as well as some more electronic sounding songs too."

Mortiis notes that the songs are still in various stages of completion, leaving them open to many shifts and changes before the follow-up to The Grudge is recorded.

"It sounds really interesting right now," Mortiis said. "Some old vibes came back to us on some of the songs, some Smell Of Rain vibes and some Grudge vibes and some new vibes. It´s all totally dysfunctional and fucked up in one way or another. Diseased or hurt minds never really heal up, I guess, and because of that, all in all it's going to be a really hard, attacking kind of album with the moody stuff in between."

Some of the working titles are: 'Zeitgeist', 'Great Deceiver', 'The Ugly Truth', 'Looking Glass', 'Doppelganger', 'Sins Of Mine', 'Scolding The Burnt', 'Live Forever', and Road To Ruin'.

Mortiis also recently completed remixes for Zombie Girl and Dope Stars' upcoming releases.

Trail Of Tears - Frontman: 'This Is Not The End!'

With the imminent release of Existentia on January 30th, 2007 in North America, Napalm recording artists Trail Of Tears are in a bit of a quandary, and much speculation has ensued. Therefore, founding vocalist Ronny Thorsen has released this official statement:

"Dear all,

The following lines are written in the attempt of clarifying the news that have been circulating in the past few days. There is really no easy way of telling this, so I will try to explain to the best of my ability.

On the 26th of November, Trail Of Tears completed a 10-date tour of Mexico, a tour which was in large part ridden with organisational problems and resulted in a severe financial loss for everyone involved. As a result of this, I was called to the band hotel on the morning of November 28th, asking for a meeting by the remaining members. Arriving to the hotel, I am instead given a message, lasting a mere two minutes, that because of the situation they have decided to end the band effective immidiately. The decision has been made entirely without my consultation and approval, and thus Trail of Tears is NOT dead and will continue in a new shape and formation.

Needless to say, I am very disappointed by the decision and the way that this has been handled by the leaving members. I have tried my very best best reasoning with them, stressing that the timing could not be worse and that in fact they are violating future obligations with a decision made in a moment of frustration in the aftermath of this tour. I have even offered to cover the several-thousand-euros financial loss out of my own pocket in order for them not to worry about paying their bills and so that we can focus on our already-agreed obligations towards label, tour organisors and the countless people involved. This was not accepted; however, they made sure of giving me all their account numbers before running back to Norway.

I am truly ashamed by the lack of insight, understanding, and responsability the leaving members have portrayed with this decision, with absolute disregard to the fans who have bought tickets for the upcoming tour, which we now have to cancel, and to all the parties involved who have invested a large amount of work and money in the upcoming release, Existentia. The decision to leave a band is an individual choice and I respect that to the fullest, but it does under no circumstances justify the leaving members violating obligations and making decisions for others, going public with something that has not been approved.

Immolation - New Album On The Way

Official press release:

Death metal stalwarts Immolation are currently fine-tuning the tracks for their much-anticipated new album. The band is currently holed up at drummer Steve Shalaty's house in Ohio prepping their new material, which is shaping up to be very aggressive and much more intense than their past work. The group will make their way over to Millbrook, NY by week's end to meet with Paul Orofino, the band's producer for their last four records, at Millbrook Sound Studios.

Robert Vigna (guitars) describes his thoughts on the new material: "We are really excited. The songs are shorter but pack more of a punch. They kick you hard right from the start and leave you pummeled by the end! It's definitely a darker, meaner album. I think the fans are going to go apeshit when they hear these tracks."

Ross Dolan (vocals, bass) further states: "The new stuff definitely has a very dark feel but does not let up on the heaviness or intensity at all. There is a hint of both the last two records in the new songs, but they are coming from a completely different approach. They are going to knock you on your ass!"

Immolation will head to Amsterdam directly after wrapping up in the studio to play the Arnhem Metal Meeting Festival with Arch Enemy. They will immediately proceed to Paris to shoot a new video for the upcoming album. The disc is tentatively set for a spring release through Century Media Records; look for the band to tour the U.S. around that same time.

Immolation has been assaulting God's black earth for the past 17 years. Along with bands like Suffocation, Incantation and Mortician, Immolation are one of the all important forefathers of New York death metal. Over the years, Immolation has always increased the stakes on each release and this new effort is no exception. It encompasses all the band's growth over the years and offers some of their most devastating material yet. Not only has the band developed their musical capabilities over the years, but they've also become one of the most intense live acts in the industry. Powerful, yet emotional, Immolation are a force to be reckoned with.

Trail Of Tears - Everything Has An End...

Norway's Trail Of Tears have issued the following message on their official website:

"Everything has an end... Trail Of Tears - 1996-2006

It is with great regret that we announce that Jonathan, Kjell, Runar and Kjetil yesterday (November 28th, 2006) left Trail of Tears.

The decision was taken with immediate effect, and thus the band does not longer exist. Trail of Tears will therefore have to cancel all forthcoming shows, including the Xmas Metalfest tour dates in December, and we sincerely appologize for any inconvenience this might lead to.

We would like to thank everybody that has supported the band from the start 10 years ago, and of course especially our loyal fans all over the world.

There was no longer the neccessary desire and energy left in the band to continue. And everything has an end.

Yours sincerely, Jonathan Perez, Kjell Hagen, Runar Hansen, Kjetil Nordhus."

(Thanks Twilight for the remark in the Shoutbox)
