Giant Squid - Sign With The End Records

The following message was posted on the Giant Squid's website:

"Giant Squid has signed a three album deal with The End Records (theendrecords.com), home of such legendary metal bands such as Crisis, Peccatum, The Gathering, and Ulver! The first release will be a complete reissue of our debut album, Metridium Field, which will be completely remixed by master of all things heavy, Billy Anderson, with many parts resung including the addition of current third vocalist Andy Southard, and then remastered by Eric Broyhill. The album will be beautifuly repackaged in a digipak featuring a rescan of the stunning original art by Aurielle Gregory. Finally, this first record will come across the way it was intended to be.

The second album will be a much more epic version of the very limited, Monster in the Creek, demo EP floating around, including the addition of at least five more brand new unreleased songs recorded by Eric Broyhill, a complete remix and/or re-recording of all the original tracks with extra material added, and something else rather special for computer owners! Giant Squid is in the preproduction process of their first video with brilliant indie film makers, Three Henchmen, for the song Dead Man's Fog. The video will be viewable on the enhanced full length release of Monster in the Creek through your PC (Or Mac if you want to be an elitist about it).

Expect to start hearing some of the old songs again live (any suggestions or requests would be appreciated!), as well as a brand new song, Sutter's Fort, which we are debuting Sep 23 at Old Ironsides, pending our intoxication level by that point in the night. Also, the band will finally use its van and trailer for something other than moving furniture, as we start touring the U.S. in conjunction with the first album release coming shortly. We plan to fund these journeys by siphoning gas out of your cars at shows, so be forewarned. Keep your one good eye planted here for upcoming dates in your quaint little town!"

Lordi - Working On New Album

The following update was posted at drakkar's site:

"Lordi have finished the main recordings last friday, but Kita and Mr. Lordi will still be working on the album´s intropart this week. Producer Jyrki Tuovinen started mixing the first songs on Monday.

Meanwhile, one of the forthcoming album´s very special guests is recording his part in the US, while another will come to Finland and visit the band in the studio. "We´re soooo excited about this, and honoured as hell!!!", says Mr. Lordi, "But we will not quite yet reveal the names... I´ve visited our forum, and some of the guesses there were pretty close... or not, hahahaha!"

NEW COSTUMES
Lordi will dress up in brand new costumes next year. Everything will be re-done from head to toe. The band says that it is nice to leave behind the "somewhat interresting" odor of the old costumes. The rumour has it that Amen will be losing a lot of "clothes". Girls, you´ve been warned.

FIRST RUSSIA, THEN SURPRISE
The band will shortly visit Russia to play two shows, in Moscow and in St. Petersburg. "It is a really welcomed change in the studio-routine, we´ll experiment how the russian vodka will affect the finnish monsters", the band says. Right after the band comes back, they will reveal a surprise that´ll drop the jaws of fans and foes alike. Be aware!"

Judas Priest - Announce Details On Live DVD

Heavy metal icons Judas Priest will release the new live DVD 'Rising In the East' on November 15, 2005, via Rhino Home Video.

Vocalist Rob Halford, lead guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bass guitarist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis filmed 'Rising In The East' in May 2005 at the legendary Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. The definitive Judas Priest lineup played two sold-out nights at the venue to promote the early-2005 release of the critically acclaimed studio album 'Angel Of Retribution,' their first new material in 15 years. 'Rising In The East' is Judas Priest's first straight-to-DVD release.

"We talked about doing a DVD on this tour and we decided to do it at the Budokan because it's a special venue. It's world-renowned. We thought it was an ideal choice," says Tipton. "We filmed both nights but we ended up using the second night only for this DVD. We wanted it to be as live and as real as possible, and when you start taking from different shows there isn't continuity. We wanted it to be one show and that's exactly what it is."

"I think what 'Rising In The East' displays to Priest fans is the first time seeing us reunited for a full-length show in the DVD format," Halford says. "I think the DVD compounds all the great things that Priest fans and metal fans all around the world love about the band. Priest is still a powerful, physical, full-on experience in the live domain. What this DVD is intended to do is give longtime Priest fans another great memory to add to their collection, and it's also an opportunity for new Priest fans to explore all the great things we're achieving three decades later."

'Rising In The East' is bursting with Judas Priest classics from albums such as 'Sad Wings Of Destiny,' 'Sin After Sin,' 'Stained Class,' 'Hell Bent For Leather,' 'British Steel,' 'Point Of Entry,' 'Screaming For Vengeance,' 'Turbo,' 'Ram It Down' and 'Painkiller' as well as 'Angel Of Retribution' standouts.

The track listing includes: "The Hellion/Electric Eye," "Metal Gods," "Riding On The Wind," "The Ripper," "A Touch Of Evil," "Judas Rising," "Revolution," "Hot Rockin'," "Breaking The Law," "I'm A Rocker," "Diamonds And Rust," "Worth Fighting For," "Deal With The Devil," "Beyond The Realms Of Death," "Turbo Lover," "Hellrider," "Victim Of Changes," "Exciter," "Painkiller," "Hell Bent For Leather," "Living After Midnight" and "You've Got Another Thing Comin'."
