Rammstein - Win Lawsuit Against Apocalyptica

The Regional Court of Berlin has convicted Apocalyptica for trademark infringement against Rammstein. The Finnish cello metallers face a fine of ?45,000.

The case concerns the advertising campaign launched in Germany for Apocalyptica's 2007 release Worlds Collide. Worlds Collide featured many guest musicians, including Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann and guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe on the track "Helden" (a David Bowie cover of "Heroes"). The band promoted the album's release on stickers, magazines and posters with the words "featuring Rammstein", this without the authorization of the band and their management.

UPDATED, in case you have trouble understanding: Apocalyptica used the name "Rammstein", which is a trademark, for commercial use without authorization of the trademark holder. The trademark holder (Rammstein and their management) rightfully filed a lawsuit against Apocalyptica for copyright infringement. They won.

Eden's Curse - James LaBrie To Guest On New Album

Eden's Curse will return with their latest and third studio release Trinity on the 18th March via AFM Records (Europe) and Metal Mayhem (USA) with Spiritual Beast releasing the album in Japan on 16th March. The band have been working daily on this release fine tuning every last detail over the last twelve months.

Comments the band: "We are delighted to announce that leading the infamous Curse Choir this time around is none other than Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie."

LaBrie lends his backing vocals to the entire album and also duets with Eden's Curse front man Michael Eden on the slamming epic "No Holy Man", which is also set to be released on the bands European label AFM Records as a digital single on 25th February.

A 90 second clip of "No Holy Man" featuring James LaBrie is available at this location. A promotional video is currently in production as well.

Michael Eden says: "James recorded the Trinity sessions at Iguana Studios in Ontario straight after he finished his solo release Static Impulse, which was perfect timing as he headed off on tour with Iron Maiden immediately after".

James LaBrie himself added: "In 2010 I was fortunate to discover Eden's Curse. I absolutely love this band. Great players and people and they deserve nothing but huge success! They belong with the best of today's music. Trust me, you're going to love this from beginning to end."

Bass player and main song writer Paul Logue explains: "James was highly professional, as you'd expect, extremely approachable and very enthusiastic about our music. We sealed the deal very quickly and we got him in top form as he was also in the middle of recording and we feel the end results are breathtaking."

Front man Michael Eden further adds: "Trinity has been a long time in the making as we always strive to bring our current fan base and new fans our very best. I spoke with James LaBrie backstage on the Iron Maiden tour last summer and we had a great conversation. James has a way of making you see things in a different light than other people. It was an honor to have him along for the ride and we hope that it is not the last time we work together."

The band then goes on to add: "We still have more cool surprises we will announce soon, this party is just getting started."

Trinity was mixed by producer Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Angra, Krokus) at his TrackShak Studio in Karsldorf, Germany.

Rebellion - Three Members Leave The Band

There is some bad news from the Rebellion camp: guitarist Uwe Lulis (ex-Grave Digger) has decided to quit the German heavy/power metal band. Furthermore, also drummer Gerd Lücking and guitarist Simone Wenzel have announced their departure.

Uwe Lulis stated: "Rebellion was also my band and I would be pleased if bassist Tomi Göttlich (ex-Grave Digger) and vocalist Michael Seifert will continue successfully".

The situation of Rebellion is thus extremely difficult, and the two remaining members are now deliberating whether and how they are going to carry on with the band.

Commented Tomi Göttlich: "We ask ourselves whether Rebellion without Uwe can still be Rebellion. On the other hand a band always depends on their fans, so we would be pleased if our fans told us their opinion about it."

Micha added: "Tomi and I wish Uwe, Gerd and Simone honestly all the best with their new projects."

Gerd and Uwe will be forming a new band, and Simone has in the meantime joined Vernissage.

Kaoteon - Ink Deal With Osmose Productions

Kaoteon are proud to announce they've signed with renowned extreme metal label Osmose Productions. The official press release reads as follows:

"Forged in the Middle East where terror and war never rest; the Lebanese extreme black/death metal band Kaoteon brings forth their first full-length record with Osmose Productions to blast your ears and damage your minds. This kaotik opus is titled Veni Vidi Vomui, which translates to "I came, I saw, I vomited".

Veni Vidi Vomui was recorded and mixed inside the bullet-scarred walls of Beirut at Mixdown Studios, while the mastering was done by no other than the infamous Dan Swanö (Bloodbath, Edge Of Sanity, Katatonia, etc.).

Kaoteon's full-length is a statement of anger and disgust towards civil wars, terrorism, invasions, sectarianism, and deceit. These themes are dissected throughout their lyrics to project Lebanon's daily life.

Several bands wrote about the ripping political and religious instability in the middle east but Kaoteon lives it to this day. From shrieks, low grunts, and high-pitched vocals to fast and mind blowing blasts, this is a not to miss record for every extreme metal fan that enjoy uncompromising metal riffs. This is going to be an unmatched statement of hatred. Zero tolerance."

The release date for Veni Vidi Vomui is set for February 21st, 2011. One of the tracks to appear on the record, called "One By One (Dogs Heed The Call)" is already available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.

Khors - Set To Release New Album, New Track Online

Original news, posted on 18.12.2010

Paragon Records is proud to announce the release of Return To Abandoned, the long-awaited new full-length from Ukrainian black metal horde Khors.

The official press release adds that, on Return To Abandoned Khors yield harsher, brooding sounds of their earlier work whilst mixing in the melancholy and spacious atmosphere of 2008's unsung dark black gem Mysticism. Inarguably the most majestic journey the band has taken its listeners on thus far, Return To Abandoned will appeal to old and new fans alike.

Khors was formed by former Astrofaes bassist, Khorus, in August 2004, with an aim to create gloomy, powerful, atmospheric black metal. Sometime later, guitarist/vocalist Helg (Runes Of Dianceht) and drummer Khaoth (Tessaract, ex-Astrofaes, ex-Hate Forest) joined the fold. The band was later rounded out by guitarist Warth. Contrary to rumors, Khors is not attached to any politically motivated groups or extremists.

Earlier this Fall, Paragon reissued The Flames Of Eternity's Decline and Cold, Khors' now classic first two full-lengths - originally released in 2005 and 2006 respectively - as a two-CD set with new layout, nine bonus tracks and a rare early video from the band.

Return To Abandoned cover art] tracklist:

01. The Arrival (Intro)
02. Lost Threads
03. Asgard's Shining
04. Song of the Void
05. The Fog (...and Grief Still Moans)
06. Mysteries Cosmos
07. The Seas Burn of Omnipotence
08. Sacrament of Buyan

UPDATE

Noisecreep is currently streaming "Sacrament Of Buyan," one of the new songs off Khors' latest full-length, Return To Abandoned. Point you browser here to check it out.
