Dååth - Sign With Roadrunner Records
Roadrunner Records announced the signing of death metal band Daath.
DAATH (pronounced like "Goth," but with a "D") were signed by longtime Roadrunner A&R man Monte Conner. Says Conner: "DAATH fuses elements of cutting-edge death and black metal with expansive orchestral and electronic themes. I haven't signed a death metal band since the early 90's, when that whole scene reached a serious saturation and then stagnation point. But I never stopped following that genre and when DAATH came along, I finally heard a new band who injected originality, excitement and fresh ideas back into that style of music."
DAATH, featuring Sean Farber (vocals), Michael Kameron (synth, backing vocals), Eyal Levi (guitar), Emil Werstler (guitar), Jeremy Creamer (bass), and Matt Ellis (drums), were brought to Conner's attention via colleague and friend, former Disincarnate/Obituary/Death/Testament guitarist-turned-producer, James Murphy, who took the band into the studio last year to co-produce and mix ten songs.
Levi commented: "Since the beginning we've believed that Roadrunner was the most appropriate label for DAATH. They are the torch bearers for the metal world and we are proud to be joining their family."
DAATH will re-enter the studio with Murphy in May to record five more songs to round out the pool of tracks they will chose from to unleash as their forthcoming Roadrunner debut album, "The Hinderers" - due out this Fall. Besides the title track, some other songs set to appear include "Festival Mass Soulform,"Ovum," "Above Lucium" and "Who Will Take The Blame." Murphy makes a guest appearance on the album as well as former Chimaira/Dying Fetus drummer, Kevin Talley, who tracked drums on two songs.

Unleashed - In The Studio
Johnny Hedlund (bass & vocals) posted the following message on Unleashed's offcial website:
"Unleashed are currently in the studio, completing the preproduction of our 8th full length album. We have more qualified songs to choose from than ever before, and I am very confident that this will be the best Unleashed album ever.
Our mission is to create one of the most memorable records in the history of Death Metal!!!
This one will be slightly faster than Sworn Allegiance. The songs will be anthems in the true traditional Unleashed way and will have you screaming along with the choruses.
The guitar sound will be taking a step towards brutality and grind. The drums are the closest we have ever come, to recording a "live" kind of intensity. The vocals?... well, not far away from Sworn Allegiance... Just add a little harshness and a slightly deep aggression to that sound and you'll get the picture right there.
Expect nothing but one of the most memorable records in the history of Death Metal."

The Haunted - Update From The Studio
Peter Dolving of Swedish act The Haunted has posted the following studio update regarding the band's forthcoming new album:
"We're going forward. This is exciting and scary. So far we got 12 songs that are evolving smoothly. So far I'd say the stuff is much heavier than previous records, I get a feeling like AT The Gates meets King Crimson.
Oh I don't know - It's hard to describe but personally I think we're coming up some heavy shit. Sometimes I feel like 'WHOA! This is turning into a Pink Floyd record for the dysfunctional.'
It's nice for a change to have a good rehearsal space in Gothenburg this time and the possibility to communicate with our computers instead of having to play stuff over the phone at 2 in the morning, especially now since we've moved out all across Sweden. Well, I have a really good feeling and I'm really looking forward to recording this monster..."
