Skitliv - Sign To Season Of Mist

Official press release

Season of Mist is very happy to welcome back former Mayhem frontman Maniac (real name: Sven-Erik Kristiansen) to the roster via the man's new black/doom band Skitliv.

Together with members of Skitliv, Maniac will be present at a listening session at this year's Inferno Festival in Oslo, which will showcase "Skandinavisk Misantropi". The album will receive its first public hearing this Thursday, April 9th, at 20:30 in the "Anneks" room of the Rockefeller venue, where attendees at the Inferno Festival will be able to meet Maniac and the guys.

Around Maniac, Skitliv's line-up includes Shining's Niklas Kvarforth on guitars and backing vocals, and Ingvar on guitars. "Skandinavisk Misantropi" also features performances by Tore Moren (Jorn, Carnivora, ex-Arcturus) on bass, Dag Otto (Haust) on drums, and guest vocal appearances from, amongst others, Attila (Mayhem), David Tibet (Current 93) and Gaahl (ex-Gorgoroth, God Seed, Trelldom, Gaahlskagg, Wardruna).

Commenting on the new album, the often-controversial frontman says: "'Skandinavisk Misantropi' has been a long time in coming, but that's the way I work. I had no intention of letting it appear until the result satisfied me personally". In respect of his signing with Season of Mist, he goes on to say: "I had never lost touch with the guys at Season of Mist after I left Mayhem, and when they said they were interested in releasing my new album, it seemed very natural to continue working with them".

Skitliv's debut full-length album "Skandinavisk Misantropi" will be released on the label later this year.

Axamenta - Reform To He Came From The Sun

Out of the ashes of what once was Axamenta, sprouts He Came From The Sun.

The leaving of Peter was a widespread phenomenon, but as you will have noticed, guitarist Sven Deckers left the band as well. Though his supporting the band will not end, he will be focusing on the graphical part of it all.

Sven comments: "During the past year or so, my motivation and interests were shifting more and more towards my other ongoing musical project, City Of Caesars, and I have decided after a very long period of doubt, th at I would make place for someone who is way more motivated to take on the musical aspect of the band. It's what they need, and what they deserve. I hope in this way, the finish line will be made, 'cause it is going to be f0xing CRAZY!"

The band is currently in search for a new guitarist.

A 3 minute teaser of the new sound and the new He Came From The Sun line-up can be found at http://www.hecamefromthesun.com.

U-Ganga - Finished Recording New Album

"Volume 3: Caos, Carma, Conceito" is the title of the new U-Ganga album. This will be the third release of this Brazilian band leaded by the ex-Sarcófago drummer Manu Joker.

The tracklisting is as follows:

01. Zona Árida
02. P.A.X.
03. Encruzilhada
04. Meus Velhos Olhos De Enxergar O Mal (2 Lobos)
05. Iso 666
06. Velas
07. Asas Negras
08. Sua Lei, Minha Lei
09. Milenar
10. O Primeiro Inquilino
11. Fronteiras Da Tolerância
12. Core
13. Tri II

With this new album, U-Ganga keeps exploring it's musical identity that is based upon the mixture of elements from hard core, thrash metal, dub, reggae and rap.
The list of special guests of the album illustrates this diversity of influences in the music of U-Ganga. One of the distinguished guests will be the rapper X, ex-vocalist of Câmbio Negro - a famous Brazilian rap band. His participation will mark the references that U-Ganga searchs in rap and hip hop culture throughout.

Some might say that the mix of rap and rock is a controversial territory for the heavy sound - and vice versa - but the music of U-Ganga is able to overcome barriers and any prejudice. X himself endorses. "It was cool to record with U-Ganga", says the rapper. "I already did some recordings in this kind of music and even Câmbio Negro was a band and some of the musicians had influences of heavy rock. Cambio Negro was a rap band with rock influences and U-Ganga is a rock band with rap influences. I think that's the way it is."

X appears singing on the track "Sua Lei, Minha Lei". The musician, that has been playing as solo artist since Cambio Negro split in 2000, highlights the composition quality. "I liked the lyric and the arrangements are awesome. Hope that the dudes enjoys the sound."

"Volume 3: Caos, Carma, Conceito" was recorded in Brasilia - capital of Brazil - at Orbis Studios with the famous Brazilian producer Riti Santiago (winner of the Brazilian MTV's EMA). Santiago, that is also another ex-member of Câmbio Negro, will also take care of the mixing. The mastering will be made in Germany by a famous international producer - the band will reveal his name soon. "Volume 3: Caos, Carma, Conceito" will be the successor of the high acclaimed "Na Trilha do Homem de Bem" (2006) and will be released still in the first semester of 2009.
