The Rotted - Set To Release New Material This Summer
The Rotted are set to enter the studio in May with producer James Dunkley to record Anarchogram, a self-released EP comprising of 2 new tracks and 4 bonus tracks.
Says guitarist Tim Carley: "These songs are the first we have written with the new line-up and we are really buzzing about letting people hear them! We've wanted to do something like this for ages, put out a self-financed DIY release on our own label, like the way we used to more than 10 years ago, before MySpace and Blog sites and all that crap. We've got the opportunity to do it this summer and it's a way for us to give something back to the fans at a low cost".
As bonus tracks, each band member will be picking a song by a band they want to personally pay tribute to, for inspiring them to play extreme music in the first place. Says vocalist Ben McCrow: "These are just a bit of fun really, and a chance to pay homage to the Metal Messiahs we worshipped during our teenage years. Most musicians have a list of cover songs they'd love to play, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed with our choices!"
After the release of the EP this summer The Rotted will continue working on album two. They plan to enter Parlour Studio in January 2011 with Russ Russell at the production helm. Anarchogram is set to be released in Summer 2010 and available via the bands webstore.

Necrophagia - New Album In The Works
After many, many delays US death metallers Necrophagia have finally finnished song writing for Deathtrip 69. Here's the latest update straight from the band:
"The new material sounds like it should have chronologically followed Season of the Dead. Consisting of very dark and heavy riffs interwoven with audio horror and inhuman vocals. Killjoy is full of praises for the new line up and says that although it's been a very long time since the band has been active it's the beginning of a rollercoater ride into horror hell. Inspiration is at an all time peak and having known guitarist Boris Randall for over 20's years makes things alot easier when it comes song writing "because we are always thinking in the same direction musically". Another element brought back to Necrophagia is lead guitar passages courtesy of Randall.
Songs definately set to appear are as follows: "Beast with Feral Claws", "Suffering Comes in Sixes","Naturan Demonto","Reborn through Black Mass","A Funeral for Solange" and "Tomb with a View".
Necrophagia will mark their return on June 26th 2010 headling the Firewalk Metal Meltdown Festival in Milwaukee. Next up Deathtrip 69 this autumn along with a US/Canadian tour with THE MOST legendary black metal band from Norway (bands and dates will be announced very shortly).
A demo version of "Beast with Feral Claws" will be world premiered on the Necrophagia MySpace Page Saturday April 24th 2010."

While Heaven Wept - Live Dates Cancelled
Original While Heaven Wept guitarist Tom Phillips has issued the following band statement:
"It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of our appearances at Metal Camp 2010 as well as the Born To Be Doomed festival in Baltimore this year. Cancelling any show is very difficult for us emotionally and spiritually... those of you who have been with us for a while know that we've even brought in stand-in musicians to make things happen in the past, but unfortunately, sometimes things simply don't work out no matter what we do.
Regarding Metal Camp, extenuating circumstances that neither the Metal Camp organization nor WHW ourselves could resolve... despite exhausting every last possibility... have resulted in WHW being cancelled from the billing for this year. Part of this can be attributed to conflicting schedules, along with truly outrageous expenses, and a few other personal matters that we'll make public when appropriate (don't worry, they're not malign). The bottom line is we hope that we'll be able to reschedule for Metal Camp 2011 (or after), and will let you know if and when this is sorted out.
As far as the Born To Be Doomed festival the week prior, just this morning [April 19] I received a phone call regarding a major conflict for one of the WHW members with their job that has come up affecting the first week of July. This of course was gutting news as we were looking forward to this event as much as Metal Camp, but the reality is we don't make a living doing WHW, and when the "powers that be" demand one of us elsewhere... in terms of career or family, sometimes there's no negotiating a way around it. We felt it was very important to get this information out ASAP so that John and Josh of the DOBD team have plenty of time to find another band to fill our slot.
Again, we extend our deepest apologies to our friends and fans for these disheartening cancellations, and will do our best to reschedule dates at another time.
Fortunately, there is some good news that I can tell you about, that will perhaps assuage these sad announcements... behind the scenes, we've been working hard on an EU tour plan for later in 2010, and hopefully we'll be able to make a very exciting announcement regarding this soon.
The "Vessel" 7" will be in production shortly, and we'll next move on to the "Lovesongs Of The Forsaken" 12" release as previously discussed. We have also already started to demo the material for the "Fear Of Infinity" album and hope to have a complete representation in hand within the next 6 weeks."

Disturbed - New Album Title Revealed
Disturbed have just announced the title of their upcoming album Asylum. As with Indestructible, Disturbed are self-producing Asylum, which they began writing in September 2009 and recording in February of this year. David Draiman describes it as "still identifiably Disturbed, but showing more maturation. We feel this is one of the strongest bodies of work we've ever put together. It definitely goes in familiar areas, but with new levels of precision and skill."
Lyrically, Draiman says, the themes "range from very personal and introspective to the political and provocative. What would you expect? No songs about puppy dogs or rainbows here."
"We want this record to be a shining example of how the years have made us stronger," Draiman says. "We want it to be a record that helps people get through their own trials and tribulations, as always."

Equilibrium - New Album Details Announced
Equilibrium just launched the "Countdown To Recreation": "From now we will post a cool surprise every week until the day of release of Rekreatur on June 18. For a start the album cover art and the tracklist have been posted.
The cover has been designed by Alev who already did the design for Unbesiegt. Furthermore we also uploaded a brand new song. Since the songs on Rekreatur are way more diverse and varied than ever, it wasn't an easy decision which song to post first. We chose "Die Affeninsel" ("The Monkey Island") to begin with."
Andreas Völkl (who wrote the lyrics) shares a bit more info about the song: "Die Affeninsel" is about an adventure in a land far away where three tests must be passed to fullfil a fraternity pledging. It's been inspired by an old pirate tale that some gamers of you might know."
You can check out the new song at MySpace.
Rekreatur [cover art] tracklist:
01. In Heiligen Hallen
02. Der Ewige Sieg
03. Verbrannte Erde
04. Die Affeninsel
05. Der Wassermann
06. Aus Ferner Zeit
07. Fahrtwind
08. Wenn Erdreich Bricht
09. Kurzes Epos [Instrumental]
