Hatesphere - New Album Details

The Great Bludgeoning, the new upcoming album of Danish death/thrash metal act Hatesphere will be released on September 21st in Spain, Finland and Sweden, on September 23rd in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Benelux and Italy, on September 26th in the rest of Europe and on September 27th in the USA and Canada through Napalm Records.

The album is produced, mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Sick Of It All, Moonspell, Dark Tranquillity) at the Antfarm Studios in Aarhus, Denmark. Cover artwork is done by Mircea Gabriel Eftemie, who has previously worked with Soilwork, Strapping Young Lad and Mnemic (where he also swings the guitar)... and also did the cover for Hatesphere's Ballet of the Brute.

Comments the band: "We have aimed the new album in a more old-school direction than its predecessor. With people this experienced joining the band it has been a very relaxed and enjoyable process to write the songs, and we have all agreed on the concept. More metal and everything that follows.

The cover, the title and the lyrics speaks for themselves. We are an angry-sounding metal band, and we have no intention of denying that. That's why the cover is more back-to-the-roots and the lyrics are again about aggressions, drinking and hate. The things that HateSphere has always been about. Expect brutality, melody and groove in just the right dose.

We have had one hell of a time writing and recording it, and we cant wait to present the album to all of you before long! Within a month or so, we will have the first song snippet and video ready for you - so keep your eyes and ears open."

The Great Bludgeoning tracklist:

01. The Killer
02. Venom
03. Smell Of Death
04. Decayer
05. The Wail Of My Threnode
06. Resurrect With A Vengeance
07. The Great Bludgeoning
08. Need To Kill
09. Devil In Your Own Hell

Hatesphere - To Enter The Studio In June

Danish metallers Hatesphere have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"We have booked the Antfarm Studio, Aarhus, Denmark, from June 13th in order to make you a new album! Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Sick Of It All) will be guiding us through it, hopefully without getting too many grey hairs! Tue has been working with us on four of our releases - and we look forward to doing it once again!!
A little funny anecdote: Tue actually produced our second demo Disconnected '97 back in 1997 as one of his first productions... and this was an actual demo tape! Those were the days."

Hatesphere - Vocalist Quits The Band

Vocalist Jonathan "Joller" Albrechtsen has left Danish metallers Hatesphere. Jonathan will be temporarily replaced by Morten "Kruger" Madsen of the Danish Metal band Mevadio.

Despite Jonathan´s exit, Hatesphere have no intention of quitting, and they will hit the American shores as planned on 24th February to tour one month with their friends in The Black Dahlia Murder, Obscura and Augury.

Here's what bassist Mixen Lindberg had to add on behalf of the band: "Today is one of those strange days where two equally strong feelings are tossing my insides around in a ponderous fist fight. One is gloomy and leaving me with a sensation that we're stuck knee-deep in a twitch. The other one is relieved, proud and stronger than ever. Today we part ways with Joller. Having a hard time combining full-time work, 2 bands and a general lack of excitement on his part, Joller came to the conclusion that his time in HateSphere was up. We debated for a couple of days there, but saw it fitting that we let him go because you can't be in this band if your heart is not in place. So, as sad as it may be, we're happy to send him on his way so we can all on move on towards bigger and better things, fully focused.

Now, we've endured hardship before so I am not worried one bit. Also, the energy in the band is at an all-time high, especially since Mike joined us last year, and at this point, we're already in contact with several possible singers (with some really interesting people in the mix might I add!). Try-out's will commence immediately upon arrival from our forthcoming US tour, and shortly after that we will hit the studio to record something new and fresh."

Hatesphere - New Drummer, Pull Out Of European Tour

In a statement from the band, Hatesphere have announced the addition of a new drummer:

"Things happen fast in this world - and after having suffered back problems for a long time Dennis finally had to throw in the towel. So the US Tour (with The Black Dahlia Murder, Augury and Obscura) not only marks the first time for us over there - it also marks the first tour with our new drummer, Mike Park, who many of you know from his work with fellow Danish metallers Mercenary. Mike has already had his live debut with us on our three shows in late November, and we are more than happy to have him joining our ranks! Welcome in the band!

As mentioned before things really do go fast from time to time. We have been forced to cancel our upcoming European tour with Hypocrisy, because of several personal circumstances and our change of drummer. We are very sorry, as we have looked very much forward to this tour - both to play with Hypocrisy and Survivors Zero but also to meet all you European fans again. But it seems impossible for us to be able to play it at this time. We hope for your understanding - and we promise you, we will be back later in 2010. Thank you all for your support!"

Confirmed US tour dates include:

2/24 Atlanta, GA @ Masquerade
2/25 St. Petersburg, FL @ State Theatre
2/26 Ft. Lauderdale, FL @ The Culture Room
2/27 Orlando, FL @ The Social
