Iced Earth - Re-Record Dante's Inferno With New Vocalist
Iced Earth have re-recorded a fan favorite track, "Dante's Inferno", which is now available for download at this location. The track features their new singer, Stu Block, as it was recorded during the creation of their upcoming new album entitled Dystopia, to be released on October 17th via Century Media Records.
Jon Schaffer explains the reason why "Dante's Inferno" was never played live since their live album Alive In Athens: "If there's one song fans have asked us to play live more than any other it's "Dante's Inferno", says Jon Schaffer. "The simple reason why we haven't is because the original click track was erased, therefore requiring a keyboard player to do the parts live. That's OK for a special event like when we recorded Alive In Athens, but to hire a keyboard player for a full tour, for one song, just isn't financially feasible."
The almost twenty-minute song will be played live in all the upcoming shows during their 2011-2012 World Dystopia Tour.

Written by Rulatore on 18.09.2011 at 00:23 When I first heard him in Into Eternity, I had major doubts about him fitting in Iced Earth.  But his vocals with Iced Earth are much more multi faceted than what I heard him doing with Into Eternity. In the stuff I heard with his previous band, he didn't really sing mid-range, or low range without doing death vocals. So he's a much more well rounded vocalist than I initially gave him credit for. I wasn't totally convinced when I heard him sing "Dante's Inferno", as I felt he lacked a bit of soul in the mid-low range that Matt had. Hearing some new songs though has convinced me that he is the right man for Iced Earth. And he seems to have no problems hitting the high notes that Matt seemed to find so troublesome in recent years. He actually sounds a bit like a hybrid of Matt and Ripper, which to me is no bad thing! hehe xD Oh, and I prefer the original version too lol

Couldn't they just make a new click track? I'm glad Matt's gone. I can't stand his voice. Stu sounds good. (interested in Iced Earth for the first time in 4 years) For anyone who doesn't want the evil monsters who are Iced Earth to have their email, here is a youtube link:
