Agalloch - Streaming New Song
Acclaimed folk black metal quartet Agalloch have unveiled a new song titled "Celestial Effigy" which is available for streaming over at Pitchfork or below. The track is taken off their upcoming album The Serpent & The Sphere which is due to hit the shelves on the 13th of May this year via Profound Lore Records in North America followed by an European release by Eisenwald on May 19th. This is the first taste available from the new album so far.

Written by Ace Frawley on 19.03.2014 at 11:25 Looking at the track listing this is song 5 of 9, so it's the dead center of the album, which is what I think they meant. I have a really hard time imagining their not being any longer songs on the album than this one. It is Agalloch after all.

Written by Saiyanity on 21.03.2014 at 12:45 Yes, you're probably right. I think it was probably just wishful thinking on my part for some shorter tracks. I'm going through a phase of finding it hard to get into longer songs. Maybe I'll come to my senses and grow out of it, I don't know?

At the same time I feel like long play time is a double edged blade. If the quality is high the longer length is a bonus of sorts, but if it's lacking in quality the length tends to drag it down even lower.

Not bad, but I was hoping for more of their typical dark folk influence. This sounds a bit too straightforward considering what they're capable of, but I won't judge until listening to the entire album.

Nice song. True Agalloch, but hoping for clean vocals, folk influences on album. For a song with such title it sounds less athmospheric than theyr best efforts. Still made my day.

It's been VERY long since I last listened to Agalloch. And then I heard this song today and it turns out it's a lot different from what I remembered... I think I'm gonna give this new album a try when it comes out.
