I notice the Pitchfork spiel describes the track as "the seven-minute centerpiece" of the upcoming new album - I wonder if that means this is longest track or close to the longest?
Looking at the track listing this is song 5 of 9, so it's the dead center of the album, which is what I think they meant. I have a really hard time imagining their not being any longer songs on the album than this one. It is Agalloch after all.

Sounds good, this album will probably be more progressive.

Yes, you're probably right. I think it was probably just wishful thinking on my part for some shorter tracks. I'm going through a phase of finding it hard to get into longer songs. Maybe I'll come to my senses and grow out of it, I don't know?

I've always felt that longer tracks are harder to get into initially, but in the long run I prefer them. At the same time I feel like long play time is a double edged blade. If the quality is high the longer length is a bonus of sorts, but if it's lacking in quality the length tends to drag it down even lower.

Not bad, but I was hoping for more of their typical dark folk influence. This sounds a bit too straightforward considering what they're capable of, but I won't judge until listening to the entire album.

This was my feelings. I just feel it didn't go anywhere with changing tempo, vocals and melodies. Didn't give me that dark atmosphere like their other albums did.

Nice song. True Agalloch, but hoping for clean vocals, folk influences on album. For a song with such title it sounds less athmospheric than theyr best efforts. Still made my day.

It's been VERY long since I last listened to Agalloch. And then I heard this song today and it turns out it's a lot different from what I remembered... I think I'm gonna give this new album a try when it comes out.

I remember I thought it was more doomy than blacky... But as I said, it's been a long time... It must have been like, 2006 or so... Well, maybe I should listen to those old albums again with today's ears.
