Metal Storm 10th Anniversary Anthology Awards

As has been mentioned, 2014 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Metal Storm Awards. A decade of us - staff and users alike - crowning kings for their efforts. Over 10 years we've had the privilege and pleasure of checking out a LOT of awesome albums.

As part of our celebration we decided to acknowledge the best albums we've heard in the past decade.

Much blood was shed as staff put on the foil and went to battle with one another to represent, pimp, and promote their personal favorites.
Now we need your help in voting for what you consider the landmark albums. The best of the best. The Legends.

So check out our nominees and cast your ballot. (link removed since the prank is done)

Regardless, I think A Dramatic Turn Of Events is a pretty good album, and the Obsidian Conspiracy is not bad at all either.

I just personally want to throw it out there that I fought long and hard for Avantgarde Metal to be added in, with Meshuggah, Voivod, Dimmu Borgir, GWAR, and Orphaned Land, but my efforts were brutally thwarted by the mainstream w̶h̶o̶r̶e̶s̶ ̶ hordes

Personally I think Airbourne and Steel Panther should've been in the Avantgarde catergory. After all they have managed to take Ultra Brutal Slam Grindcore, add Trip Hop sensibilities and invent a whole new genre of music.

I believe the joke fell flat, as none of the bands I listed are Avantgarde in any way, but have just been described as such by sillies who misunderstand what the term means.

Airbourne and Steel Panther aren't Avantgarde either. He understood your joke. Airbourne is AC/DC-style hard rock and Steel Panther are Glam/parody.

for me it's Folk. so many great albums, but each so unique, different vibe, pacing, approach that picking my fave is going to be splitting hairs.

When I clicked the folk category I instantly began cracking up.

Looks like the players at MetalStorm got you all again. Remember, tomorrow (at least here in the US) is April Fool's Day. All it took was seeing Anthrax Worship Music (which, ironically is a lot more like a gospel album than thrash) and Megadeth Super Collider (only beaten for suckiness by Risk) to see that this is TRULY a joke.

Good Job MS!!

Here's some edumacational material to help learn you. Don't blame me if you get herpes.

Man, I really can't stand music like that, but the lyrics just make it so amusing that it's actually semi-enjoyable

I'd like to write in Deathday 666's debut album in every category because, it is truly this decade's Master of Puppets!

I would argue against including DD666 in something as mainstream as this Awards gimmick. My music is too serious to be associated with such tomfoolery.

But I appreciate the sentiment.
