Darkspace II only had 3 songs and it was almost an hour long.

Sounds great really. Think this is going to be their most varied and versatile record to date. I'm glad they're expanding their song writing whilst remaining totally cosmic in sound.

I think we can all admit that mz has a point. The increased presence of the keys, at least in the sample, is quite striking. I can easily see why someone wouldn't necessarily dig it.

As for my own opinion, it sounds decent.

This already sounds better than anything they released before. That noise crap fucked up all the other records imo, I couldn't enjoy it.

I just think it's funny that some people are reacting negatively to an ambient black metal band having a heavy keyboard presence. Aren't sound effects supposed to be a crucial factor for this style?

Sounds less oppressive than usual. But damn it gonna be good ! I like the keyboard sounds.

Not the usual style of metal I check out but I really dig the sound of this - think i'll be checking this one out

What's your point? Even if it's mainly rooted in BM, I'd prefer if they went for a more abrasive sound. Dark 2.8 is a prefect song and among my top ten most favorite tracks ever.

It was just my way of saying that the keys don't really appear too heavy to my ears. Listening to it again now I hear them more in the background, but I still think they're not really that upfront. Going off of some of the band's previous material though, I can see why some people wouldn't care for a new style like this though, assuming this is what the album will predominantly sound like.

Sounds Cool. I've never listened to Darkspace, but I'll probably check this out.

Really enjoying what I'm hearing so far. Much clearer production, which I initially thought wouldn't suit their overall sound, but these guys really know what they're doing. The keys have the same amount of presence that they did on previous outings, more or less. Really excited for this release.

Not everyone is coming in with that expectation though. Regardless of genre, people will complain about an element of the sound they don't like.

Personally I think this is a great teaser, and really nice to see a band releasing something more than just some crappy 2-minute "soundbite" that gives you virtually no impression of what the album will sound like. I highly doubt I'll be disappointed by the final product based on this.

Totally agree with you there, when I saw "new album teaser" in the news title I assumed it'd just be one of those 2 minutes or less clips you're talking about (can't stand that either), but I was pleasantly proven wrong!
