The Decline Of Western Civilization - Films Coming To Blu-ray
Now, this is something. On June 30th, Penelope Spheeris' cult-classic documentary trilogy The Decline Of Western Civilization will be available in a special Blu-ray four-disc box set, compliments of The Shout! Factory. The first film, released in 1981, is devoted to the L.A. punk scene at the time. The second film, The Metal Years (1988) takes a look at metal, and features bands like KISS, Poison, Motörhead, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, W.A.S.P. Now for the first time, all three films are available in one deluxe box set. And while all three films have been restored in high definition, they are in keeping with the feel of the rebellious times in which they were shot.
Spheeris returned a decade later with 1998's The Decline Of Western Civilization Part III, which focused on the tragic lives of homeless gutter punks in the city and contained performances by Naked Aggression and Final Conflict. The movie has never been available on home video.
This is the first-ever official Blu-ray or DVD release of the films. Pre-orders are available here.
Bonus features:
New 2K scan of each film supervised by director Penelope Spheeris
Commentary by Dave Grohl
