Star One - Share First Single From New Album

Arjen Anthony Lucassen is back with a new Star One album, Revel In Time. The upcoming music output comes more than 10 years since the previous release and is due out on Feb 18th, 2022 on Inside Out Music. Today, Arjen is pleased to share the first single and video from the album's closing track "Lost Children Of The Universe".

Arjen has this to say about the track: "This 10-minute epic is the first video clip/single of the new Star One album Revel In Time. The lyrics are inspired by the movie Interstellar. This is a slightly different version than on the CD. On CD1 Roy Khan sings the lead vocals and on CD2 Tony Martin sings the lead vocals. For this YouTube version I combined their voices. Both such great singers, I just couldn’t choose! Hope you enjoy it. Thanks for your attention!"

02] 28 Days (Till The End Of Time) 7:21

This is quite good. That choir in the middle lifted the song.

I'm not really feeling it. It just feels to me that way too much stuff is going on, but I think that's down to the fact Arjen combined both Tony and Roy's voices. Not a bad thing, both great singers, but the fact they seem to be both there at the same time seemed a bit overwhelming to me. Luckily, he just did that for this Youtube release single. I'll cast proper judgment on the proper album version. But at the moment, this version isn;t for me, which pains me to say cause I love Arjen's work.

This to me is cheese with added on cheese for good measure, this is how I imagine the sound to be if Deep Purple joined forces with Gamma Ray, and decided to write an epic theme song, to some naff Flash Gordon style sci-fi movie.

I like the heavy riffs but for some reason I don't respond to the vocals melodies and the lyric is a bit too cheesy. Love Roy and Tony so I had hoped for something better.

I just love Roy Khan's voice!
I enjoy the song but I need to listen to it a few more times as always with the longer tracks by Arjen.
