Rivers Of Nihil - Part Ways With Vocalist

Tech death outfit Rivers Of Nihil have just announced that they parted ways with Jake Dieffenbach, who has been the band's vocalist since their inception. You can read the band's statement below.

The band's statement: "We would like to inform our fans and colleagues alike that we’ve parted ways with Jake Dieffenbach. Jake was a founding member of Rivers Of Nihil, and our friend and brother beyond the scope of the band. While this decision wasn’t easy, it was necessary. We ask our friend and fans to allow Jake the space to handle his affairs with dignity and privacy.

"The creative core of Rivers Of Nihil is still intact. Brody and Biggs will continue to be the main architects of the music and lyrics, as they have been from the start. Jared has been with us for 5 years and 2 albums already, and we’ve known Andy for so long it feels like he’s been in the band forever. To that end, rather than bringing in anyone new, Biggs will be taking over lead vocals on the upcoming EU/UK “Faces of Death" tour, the recently-announced Northeast US dates with Killswitch Engage, and beyond—as he did on the second half of our recent North American tour with The Contortionist—in addition to continuing his duties on bass.

"Beyond touring, we have some exciting new releases planned for the near future as well. Stay tuned for those announcements soon."

Wow. That's a shock. Didn't see that coming. That's now the 2nd band member they've lost within a year

Sounds like Dieffenbach needed to seek care of some sort. Hope he gets whatever he needs to work things out.

Wonder if their music will be any good... Changing vocalists is hard, even for very established bands.

Haha, that's like saying "compose your own Metal album and upload it here, instead of writing a review of an album".

Wonder what this will do to their tour

They will tour as they have done recently with Biggs doing all the vox instead of just the cleans.

Not as radical a change as what Skeletonwitch went through when they parted with Chance Garnette mid-tour.

I think they will be fine for the tour and don't know that this will make the next album any easier or harder to create. Mostly I hope that Dieffenbach is okay. He seemed like a decent guy at heart.
