Nightwish - Announce New Album In 2024; To Take A Break From Touring
Nightwish are pleased to announce that they will be releasing a new record in 2024, which follows 2020's Human. :II: Nature. effort. The group has also decided to take a break from live performances (for indefinite time), which means that they won't be touring in support of the upcoming music output.
Nightwish commented: "As the 'Human :ll: Nature - World Tour' is drawing to a close, we feel now is the time to tell you of our plans for the next phase in our journey. After the planned shows for June 2023 we will be "hanging up our spurs" for an indeterminate time, as far as live concert performances go, and won't be touring the next album.
"The reasons for this decision are personal, but, we all agree, vital to the well-being and future of the band. Be assured that we still love working together, and this decision has nothing to do with Floor`s pregnancy or our other individual projects.
"However, an album of 12 new songs will see bright daylight in 2024, as will 3 music videos! The band is positively hyped beyond words over this new upcoming musical adventure. Stay tuned for updates from our legendary Nightwish band camp & studio this summer!"

Floor must still be recovering and have a pop career to leverage, Tuomas' black metal project had a good reception, the other members must also have their side projects. I think that when you reach their level of recognition and you can live off your art without getting tired of it on (practically) endless tours, I think it's more than valid, it's well-deserved!

Same time who knows what Holopainen will mix up in a studio whit own projects.

Good for them to take some time off, especially Floor deserves it after her illness and now that she's expecting her second child, it will be even more important to have some downtime with the family. That 30-year anniversary isn't far away so would be nice if the band got together with members past and present for an epic all stars gig when the time comes. The Gathering did that for their 25th anniversary and it was an experience of a lifetime. True, Nightwish's line-up changes were more acrimonious but after all these years, it seems they're all getting along fine.
